Wei Wuxian's view is obscured by the red veil, but he can tell that Lan Zhan spends most of their wedding glaring at him. He's spent years with that glare so it doesn't phase him. That glare might be part of the reason they're in this mess to begin with. Mo Xuanyu wouldn't have known any better, she probably took one look at Lan Zhan and took his scowls at face value.
It's too bad.
He wishes he could have told her not to worry, but it's all too late. She's dead, he's in her body, and probably won't be staying for long.
That curse mark will win against him eventually even if he never figures out why she summoned him.
Not for the first time, he wishes she'd thought to leave a note.
He and Lan Zhan bow to each other and are then led to the bedchamber.
It occurs to the first time that they expect he and Lan Zhan to sleep together.
He can't panic about it too much because soon it's just him and Lan Zhan standing alone in the room and he's still glaring.
Good grief. Even if this isn't a marriage of Lan Zhan's choice, it's not like Mo Xuanyu isn't a pretty girl. There's no reason for him to be this grumpy about it.
"You have to take off my veil," Wei Wuxian says eventually. He can't sleep with Lan Zhan, obviously. But that's not going to be a problem.
There's a bottle of wine right there. All he has to do is get him to take one sip and the only sleeping together they'll do will be literal.
Lan Zhan stiffly walks forward and slowly, painfully lifts the scarf from his face.
Wei Wuxian sticks out his tongue.
He blinks, taken aback, and Wei Wuxian doesn't have a problem with being a girl but there's no world in which he'd be a proper bride. He laughs, leaning forward to nudge Lan Zhan in the ribs. "So serious! You'd think this was a funeral."
Lan Zhan's face creases in pain and Wei Wuxian worries that there's some wound he'd aggravated when he nudged him, but Lan Zhan turns away from him before he can ask.
