Better Art Challenge: Shading
ok, lets go
1. basic outline. hard to get past but you can do it!
2. putting down the flat colors (i like keeping my line art the same color but you can change it if you want)
3. shading shadows to create (if a hair has volume, make sure to shade under it to show it)
4. this is where i start acting like a makeup guru. ok, so here’s the thing, I watch way too many James Charles videos, which made me notice how similar makeup is to shading a face. So here, I used “concealer” (really just a lighter color of the skin’s hue) and created triangles under the eyes and on the forehead (cause that’s how light its the face or somethin)
5. back to the makeup, add some highlighter to show brightness in the face (i did it below the tips of the eyes, on the chin, and on the nose bridge) and added blush to bring some color back to the face
(you can see the shading more clearly without line art (as shown above)
6. not really shading but add some fun lighting in that matches the background and the mood of the drawing (i’ll go more into this when I talk about lighting in my next post)
ok so those are my tips for shading the face. DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT VERY GOOD AT ART NOR DO I REALLY UNDERSTAND IT, IM JUST HERE TRYING TO LEARN AND REPORTING BACK TO YOU GUYS. ok yeah
also this
I tried my best to learn how to shade clothes (and the body as a whole) but it kinda became more of a shadow tutorial woops... but uh yeah, here it is.
hope you guys enjoyed :)
