🧠HEADCANON: Shadow the Hedgehog was created by Gerald Robotnik upon the A.R.K. by not only a forbidden concoction of human and hedgehog DNA and Chaos energy but also the terrifying idea and literation of Doom DNA as well. Creating a truly unique and one-of-a-kind specimen and person even if he was seen as a failure in his creator's eyes. As alien blood flows through him, so does the developed traits of some of his heritage that very few or even close peers are aware of. One of these things is his tongue. A seemingly benign appendage to the average creature, suddenly is a green, elongated and dexterous appendage capable of being manipulated with ease by it's owner like a tentacle and the length thereof controlled at will, all resting inside a chamber of abnormally sharp teeth. During his rut, the green of his tongue becomes a little brighter, his mouth overproduces in saliva and his teeth seemingly grow ever so slightly sharper and due to hormones, comes with the added bonus of being extremely sensitive to scents due to him able to take smells through his mouth similar to a cat. Shadow-surprisingly enough-is self-conscious and shy of this trait and never shows nor uses it unless absolutely necessary but as always his mate was only intrigued by it and the wonders it might be able to accomplish if Shadow is only willing to allow for some...experimentation.
