During this time, art, reblogs, comments, and more will be focused on this fankiddo to show them the love they deserve! The purpose of this blog is to showcase all fankids equally no matter how big of a creator you are, so try it out!

Hello, all! Thank you so much for being invested and following the spotlight’s start so far! We wanted to give you a quick update: we will be starting our first official spotlight in March!

We’ll be taking some breaks during holiday seasons for everyone to spend time with family, but come new year and you can begin showering the first spotlighted fankid with love! Thank you for your patience and we can’t wait to see you there <3

How do I submit my fankid?

There is a Google form in the pinned post! Please read the rules both in the form and in the post before submitting, however!

Are oc x oc kids allowed?

As of writing this, sadly no. There must be at least one canon parent.

Can I submit my twins?

Twins (and triplets) are allowed, under specific conditions. If your twins (or triplets) are so heavily intertwined in their lore it wouldn't make sense to show only one, there's a chance it will be allowed. However, DM us to check first.

If my kid isn’t in the spotlight, can I resubmit them?

Of course, here’s the story.

All of the mods here are fankid creators and fans, as well as fans and participants of the sonic fankid showdown. While I truly love the sfs, we were recently having a conversation about our grievances with it—which is in no part because of the mod, there isn’t anything that they could do to prevent these issues we saw.

The main issue that was frustrating to us was the fact that no matter how interesting your fankid is, some people only care about voting for their favorite creators—typically ones with big followings. Because of that, smaller creators typically don’t have as good a chance to get far in the tournament. To be clear, we are aware of exceptions to this! There is no hard rule, just a general trend that we noticed.

While expressing our frustrations for it, mod Blaze suggested making a blog for showcasing fankids, but in a specific way to be able to equally highlight all creators, regardless of popularity. We want to spotlight just one fankid at a time, so that we don’t have multiple competing for the attention, because the most popular creator’s kid is almost always going to come out on top.

Again, this is not an issue we are taking with the mod of the sonic fankid showdown, nor popular creators, and we don’t want any harassment to follow. We just want to give an equal opportunity for smaller creators to get some attention.

The polls have concluded for the spotlight length, and the general consensus was to have it be 1 week long, or 7 days long. However, after talking with the other mods, we've made the decision to up it to 8-10 days.

This is because we are concerned that people don't realize how short a week is! We understand that you are excited to get to your turn and your fankids, but 1 week is an extremely short time, especially during busier months. If any complications occur, we will discuss the times further, but with 10 day long spotlights we will be able to show off 36 fankids yearly!

Now that we have ten submissions, we can start the polls for when it will begin!
