Functional Movement Systems Book Review
While very detailed in its explanations of movement, this book is tough to finish. The information is good, but it’s very disorganized. It will take a lot of work to learn the SFMA and FMS just from this book, but it can be done. As for the screens themselves, I use them regularly in my practice. While they aren’t perfect or comprehensive, no other screen is either. If you make your way through the first five chapters, you will learn some of principles behind safe and effective training clients. . . Speaking of clients, this book is not for you. Honestly, it’s not worth your time. There are simpler, newer books that will provide you with the same type of information (or just read my review, which summarizes many of the salient points). If you want to see a preview of the SFMA and FMS before buying the certifications, then definitely pick up this book.

Beyond just #acupuncture these are some of the other skills I bring to the table. Neurokinetic Therapy, golf-specific evaluation from the Titleist Performance Institute, and very soon, the Selective Functional Movement Assessment. There's not a lot of people in my field using this knowledge. . . . @davidnkt1951 @mytpi #nkt #mytpi #tpi #tpilas #sfma #movement #fms #neurokinetictherapy #bodynerd #tcm #tcmnerd #orthopedics #motorcontrol #fascia #ancientchinesesecret #golfmedicine #golfscience #holistichealth #biotensegrity #unique #skills
All these pieces are for sale in this week’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts Alumni Art Sale, to benefit current SMFA students. The Wren is framed and will be on the wall (wall displays are rotated so it may not be there the whole time) while all 4 other pieces are shrinkwrapped on foamcore board and can be leafed through in the bins. The sale takes place this Thursday through Sunday and the public is invited (this means you!). Hours Thursday through Saturday are 10 AM through 8 PM, Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM. The School of the Museum of Fine Arts is right next to Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts at 230 The Fenway, and a block from the MFA stop on the Green Line E branch on Huntington Ave. I’ll be at the reception on Thursday night, 17 November, 5 -- 8 PM. See you there!
