Grandpa Pete sat in his little shack and made the gates go down so cars would not cross the tracks when trains were coming. When Larry visited, Pete liked to tell stories about being a bootlegger and a bar he had owned during prohibition. He was a small man who dressed in flannel shirts and bib overalls and did not look very big until he started telling his tales. He would come out of his shack and act out the stories.
