Seven Sins
Adam slumped into the house and set down his last load of books morosely.
It was a nice house at least. Big. Old, but in good shape.
There was just one problem.
The housemates.
Technically, they were more like demons, but there was no getting rid of them and Adam was just too worn down to care.
"Why are you looking all depressed this time?" Wrath leaned against the door, a knife in one hand and an apple in the other. He wore black jeans and nothing else. "That's the last box, right?"
Ignoring them didn't work terribly well. Adam sighed again. "Yeah it's the last one but-"
He yelped when fingers trailed eagerly down his neck and dipped under his collar. When he whirled- almost fell- Lust stood just behind him with her delighted, eager smile across her red-painted lips.
She wore nothing but a set of very see-through red lingerie, unbothered by both the cold weather and Wrath's appreciative stare.
They hung out together a lot and sometimes went to get in fights at bars (everyone lusts after Lust. Wrath likes to fight everyone. It works out.)
"I could cheer you up," she promised and tugged on his belt before he could stop her.
"He isn't interested, Lust," Pride took the form of an immaculate, business-clad woman. She might be a sin, but Adam sort of wanted to be her when he grew up. "Get a shower Adam. I had Wrath burn your clothes- not the special ones, your sad excuse for a work wardrobe- and I am taking you shopping."
"I want to go," Lust pouted. "I know everything about good looking men!"
"But nothing about professionalism. Go sit on Envy. He's sulking because I am giving Adam attention."
Cheered by the prospect of sex, Lust skipped off towards Envy's room. Adam couldn't quite keep himself from watching her go. She bounced in all the right places.
"I don't have the money for a shopping spree," Adam pointed out, now even more depressed by the realization that he had nothing to wear to work tomorrow. "I can barely pay rent.
"I am buying. You are an insult to my sensibilities," Pride told him flatly, and whistled. "Greed! We are going shopping!"
"Coming!"
Greed was very tall and very handsome. Adam didn't particularly like standing next to him. The comparisons never went well for him. Greed also dressed like old money and was prone to hoarding. Fortunately he couldn't beat Wrath in a fight, and the other sins regularly cleared his hoard into storage units.
Defeated, Adam slumped upstairs towards his private bathroom and waved at Sloth- despondently playing games on his iPad on the living room couch- and got a quick shower before returning to the kitchen.
Pride stared disapprovingly at his ratty jeans and shirt. Even Wrath rolled his eyes and vanished for a minute, returning with a leather jacket and a tube of something in hand.
"Hold this," he thrust the jacket at Pride, who pursed her lips at him but said nothing. He squirted some of the stuff- it smelled like hair gel- into his hands and advanced on Adam. "You're a disgrace even by my standards. Hold still."
He rubbed the gel into Adam's hair and spiked it up expertly. "You're working out with me in the mornings. Between me and Pride, we'll get you cleaned up, and then Lust will teach you to get a girl and Greed will teach you how to keep her."
Finished, he grabbed the jacket back from Pride. "Put this on. At least you can look INTENTIONALLY scruffy."
"You can play video games with me and Gluttony when you're tired of them," Sloth said from the door as Greed walked in, wearing a perfectly tailored suit. Sloth was in sweats and a worn, patched bathrobe. "Gotta relax some time."
Adam gave them all a very suspicious look. "Aren't you supposed to be sins?" He asked, finally getting some energy at the prospect of a girlfriend. "Leading me to temptation and all?"
"We'll get to that when we stop feeling so sorry for you," Greed leaned over to adjust his hair in the mirror by the door. "Onward, human. We have work to do before we can be seen in public with you."
