you must understand, it was… a long time ago.
It's another late night of pouring over ancient texts found within the Lighthouse library, a combination of finding anything they can use for defeating the Evanuris and academic curiosity at the rarity of the ancient knowledge they've been given to pore over so freely. If the very fate of Thedas were not at stake, Stix is sure he would be spending much more time lost in these texts and scrolls than he already finds himself.
Of course, the work goes both quicker and smoother in the company of his fellow Mourn Watcher. Stix has always been an admirer of the Professor, much to the chagrin of his own former mentor whom he had known to once be a close colleague of Emmrich's. Truthfully, it was those few times he sat in the back of one of his lectures that Stix began to question not only Hezenkoss, but other Mourn Watchers he had been in the care and tutelage of since he was found in the depths of the Necropolis.
So, it does not surprise him when conversation turns to talk of home, and of their histories there, especially after their visit to Blackthorne Manor. Stix is, of course, most curious about the falling out between his former mentor and the man sitting across from him in the library, pouring over old books. But he won't press the issue if Emmrich doesn't wish to talk of it.
"It seems almost a lifetime ago, doesn't it?" Stix asks as he closes the book he holds in his hands, sliding the ribbon between the pages to mark his place before setting it down on the table and leaning back in his chair.
"She had this habit of both never talking of and never shutting up about you, you know. After a while, I felt she was desperate to outshine you, somehow. I sometimes shudder to think what she would have dragged me into had I stayed as her apprentice, after everything we have learned."
