I think Kill la Kill counts in the sense that while it does end up leaning sort of science fantasy/sci-fi with the twist that the life fibers are an alien race, in presentation the life fiber situation feels more like a soft magic system instead of hard science. Thus it is able to fulfill the "character exploration through the MC's use of magic" key requirement for me. Similar to how Corrector Yui just has very advanced technology but it functions so close to magic that she's considered a magical girl.

With Kill la Kill, my first impulse is to give Ryuko an excitable/ loose cannon magical girl like Papika from Flip Flappers to bounce off of since that type of dynamic works well comedically in her series, but since she was fighting sports club team leaders early on there's a part of me that thinks she could have fun interactions with one of the Getsumen to Heiki Mina girls since their whole thing is protecting sports from weirdly enthusiastic sports fan aliens(...this doesn't actually make much more sense in context lmao. It is a very goofy series. You just have to take things as they come).

It might be interesting to have KLK's elite four bounce off of the Correctors from Corrector Yui. Both are groups that on an emotional level basically live to serve their leader(Satsuki for the elite four and Yui for the correctors), but with how different their leaders are that would manifest differently for them, which could make for fun contrast comedy.

Given Cutie Honey and Minky Momo have similar gimmicks(becoming whoever they need to be to suit the situation). I think they'd make a fun duo.

Ahiru and My Melody would be good friends, I think, although My Melody's level of airheadness might be a bit much for her.

Rescue from Corrector Yui, on the other hand, would be a perfect friend for My Melody. They're both at about equal levels of ditzy. Freeze and Kuromi could bond over their very oblivious enemies situation.

I think if you put Sae from the Magic Users' Club alongside the Ojamajo Doremi girls they could cause extremely shitty situations on accident through combined magic incompetence(based on the one season of ojamajo I've watched and the entirety of MUC), which is why it should 100% be allowed to happen.

In Corrector Yui, it's revealed that being a magical girl is a "chosen one" situation. However, similar to Miraculous Ladybug, she isn't chosen by a higher power. The choice of who the human corrector would be was made by a fallible human being. Who also got amnesia after setting up the situation. It wasn't a requirement; he got ran off the road. That was just a funny coincidental similarity I wanted to point out. Also, Yui was never supposed to be a corrector. Her friend, and later teammate, Haruna, was. In the end, because Yui had earned the love and respect of the correctors and been very good at her job, she was allowed to keep her status, with Haruna joining as her backup.For this reason, I think it'd be interesting to see her bounce off of Chloe Bourgeoise, who experienced a similar situation with a much less happy ending. I think it could be fun and theoretically very interesting.

Maybe Katori to bring all the disgraceful ones to the design thoughts.

I've had ideas of how they would look like if they were still around in the main story era. I don't really have the energy to draw so I'll just describe them as best as I can (Sakahone, Chika and Saito only).

Well, for Sakahone actually, it would go something like

😂 he already looks like that i guess. Idk, it would be something decrepit but fully conscious. I think he would have kept his gotei haori but as scraps over his back. Idk how to explain it. He's a man but simultaneously the evils of the past that just won't die and instead went into hiding. He will die, but not just yet. He's waiting for the undertaker.

Chika, I believe he would don the Shihoin colors, whichever they are (gold, gold, gold, orange, regal purples maybe?). I think he was a smiling man that wasn't afraid of times changing and went into old age with that same joie de vivre. He would be a handsome, robust older gentleman, with crows' feet adorning his eyes and creases that showed just how much he smiled. I love to imagine him with a beard. Not like Yamamoto's, but still something that signals him as the patriarch of the Shihoin family. Perhaps he is no longer the head of the clan, but he is still a force to be reckoned with.

Saito (or rather Furofushi, since Saito is her surname and I guess she'd take the Kuchiki name after she marries) would definitely ditch the girlish twin tails, but would style her hair in lower, more mature stands, held together by the kenseikan (which were Ginrei's originally, but she asked he give it to her as a wedding gift). She's gone gray except for some purple streaks here and there. She would wear expensive silks I think. Despite her rat nature, she still effortlessly became The Lady Kuchiki. A brash old woman who loudly speaks her mind, and since she's the boss, no one can tell her anything >:). Her eye patch is made of finer materials. The closest personality vibe and voice I can think of is old woman Toph as she appears in the Korra show.

Ultimately it's basically a headcanoning a canon oc, but I think that's fine for now since canons slow on that part.

Most interesting because of their age: Saizo Sakahone. My reasoning for this is I think it's both funny and interesting if the oldest looking character made it to the current times. Now there's an even older vestige of the first generation, older than Yamamoto, hanging around the Soul Society.

My delusion about Sakahone is that I think he's a clairvoyant that speaks in riddles; paired with the "ruthless thug" status that was the general characteristic of the the 1st gen, AND that the district Ukitake becomes Mimihagi's host is also called Sakahone (I think the guy may have had something to to with it), I picture his retirement as him becoming a hermit fortune teller somewhere in the Rukongai (probably in Sakahone itself!)

If he had met the main cast, I think it would have been for a very brief and weird moment. He recites some fortune to Ichigo in the form of a seemingly nonsensical riddle and then disappears into the walls. The moment is not brought up again, but turns out he predicted Yhwach or maybe even Hell.

Most interesting based on their canon lineage, and the perks attributed to aristocracy: Chika Shihoin.

My reasoning: We honestly have no idea what happened to the rest of the 1st gen. Did they die out? It's very likely they did. But another hypothesis that I've seen talked about is that Yamamoto had them incarcerated in muken or killed. The commander, no matter how "soft" he ended up becoming after the first war, still very much turns to scorched earth kind of tactics when it suits him, so it's likely that he himself got rid of his own foundlings. It's not an idea I subscribe to, but won't deny the possibility. Muken was created to house dangerous criminals that can't die by normal means and it's located under the 1st division barracks, too. Yamamoto both hiding and holding on to his mistakes is something that's already established in canon.

So! Who was most likely to escape such fate on account of their status, which puts them above the law's most ruthless outcomes? Someone from one of the noble families of course. Someone especially from the most influential and most ancient family! If there was someone that was allowed to live out their retirement in their opulent estate, that would definitely be Chika Shihoin.

I admit I have absolutely no idea what the general purpose and workings of each of the families is (I think this is touched upon the novels? It wouldn't matter either since a lot of lore gets contradicted so it remains My City™️), but they are connected to the workings of the Soul Society and are often at odds with each other.

Chika retiring the gotei to focus on his family's affairs seems likely but it would happen after he marries and his first child turns of age to take over his duties as the new head of the clan.

After Yoruichi exiles herself from the Soul Society in Turn Back The Pendulum, and as a result abdicates her noble life, the title head of the Shihoin clan goes to Yushiro and the reins of the stealth force and captaincy of the gotei's 2nd division goes to Soi Fon (this last bit was established by Kubo to have been done under Central 46's orders)

So my thoughts are: what if Chika was alive during all that and had to step in to get his family's duties and business under control? Like briefly stepping out of retirement to give some structure to the now fragmented and Dishonored Shihoin family. Goes back to his retirement once he appoints Yushiro the new head of the clan.

Can't really picture him meeting the main cast, but the thought of this distinguished and imposing, golden prince, wizend by age but with the same vigor as a man in his prime suddenly stepping back into the limelight to pick his family up from their stumble is a very exciting image to me.

Most interesting for self indulgent reasons: Furofushi Saito.

I have a bigger fondness for female characters and the founding women of the gotei are no exception. I think about them the most, and the reason why I'm saying Saito is because I honestly believe she married into the Kuchiki clan (and will continue saying this until Kubo himself tells me otherwise)

Rude rat woman (my vision of her) marries into one of the distinguished five families, mostly as a quid pro quo situation: the Kuchiki family gets dibs on the 6th division of the gotei, Saito gets a life of luxury and comfort. A win-win that also lines up with the established nepotism of the 6th division. A win for me also because the idea of her being Byakuya's grandmother is so amusing <3

Badass and crass old lady Kuchiki outliving Ginrei and being the only one to support Byakuya's marriage to Hisana ("Ginrei married a savage and his family became better for it! The boy can marry that spindly woman as he fucking pleases!") Is a thought that is very dear to me. Would she be a friend to Hisana? I think she believes she is. In her obnoxious and overbearing kind of way. Frail Hisana is intimidated by this loud old woman but understands that, aside from her Lord husband, this one is the only possible friend she has in this scary manor.

Tho she's probably good hearted and soon turns against the Evangels. Wonder how her "Magic" power works , since I've seen her besides ice but also drawing with a light or maybe with a string of light

She would definitely get along well with Arrow. It would be fun to see them interact; since they both have quite calm and quiet personalities, neither of them talks much. As a team, they would probably be like when you see your friend and somehow your neurons connect, and even without speaking, you know what the other is thinking. They're balanced to work as a unit against challenges

But in the end, her destiny lies in the Eighth Division. So bad luck for Archer 🫂

Regarding Merlin's powers, since I'm a (veeeeery) indecisive person, I experimented and changed several things about them over time. At first, her pyrotechnic powers were going to be related to ice (similar to Karim Flam). But after studying it a bit and not coming up with an explanation that convinced me of how her abilities would work, I ✨️gave up✨️. In the end, I went with something else: threads. A skill like that can be incredibly versatile in the right hands: for capturing, attacking, moving, even as an emergency bandage—almost like magic 🪄⊹₊⟡⋆

BUTTTT she retains the ice thing in her personality: an unbothered ice queen brimming with knowledge ⋆꙳❅*‧ ‧*❆ ₊⋆

Since my ask game I haven't done much world building for either setting due to life/work/etc. but I do hope to continue working on them this summer!

Re From Y to Q - I feel like I want to show Kid what a toxic relationship looks like from the outside while also being quite a toxic shit himself, and how he deals with it. I feel like its a good opportunity for angst, feelings of toxic masculinity/machismo culture, and that's kinda what got me into thinking about the setting. Like yeah Q is a huge piece of shit, so how would Kid feel if he saw someone being treated like that. Would he even care? Would he act better or worse?

Re Undead One Piece - idk if I mostly wanted to focus on fun smut content, but there is potential for doing a doubles universe with them. I feel like Kid would be DEVASTATED about Spring's background, in my opinion, and would fight god themself. I also mentioned needing to re-read and re-watch undead unluck to get back into the mindset cause it has been a while.

I already wrote the Lupin/Yakitate crossover years ago..... you can find it if you go looking for it but it's trapped on my ancient FF account for now <3

Lupin and UDUL are really easy to think up crossovers for because they're already on globe-trotting adventures! You can realistically pair them up with anybody, anywhere. You can even use a trick for Yakitate, if you want. "We're opening a new Pantasia branch in XYZ" and whatever characters you want can be put there to get it off the ground.

But you have given me some thoughts, I could be misremebering but I believe she was present as a Soul Reaper when it happend.

Meninas x Isane

With the extra context of Isane being there when the whole Quincy purge was going down. I know it's such a wierd thing to add to a relationship but Isane is such like a truly good girl otherwise not counting this not so fun fact. And from Menis whole attitude, she doesn't seem the type to care? Like Bambi and Candice seemed vengeful of the Shinigami in their actions, Giselle may also have been, however rather seemed to be in her in her own sort of mental wonderland and acted horrifically, Liltotto also seemed somewhat detached but appeared to hold many ambitions of power. But Meninas seemed like she really was just flowing with the ocean going through the motions of being a Quincy knight, doing her job killing and being killed. Like I don't know, there's something there but I've no idea how to properly word or construct it.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting your comment (my meds kicked in), but Isane wasn't there during the Quincy purge. She's from a younger generation (my thoughts is she's contemporary to Rangiku and Gin, and older than Hisagi)

Whether she was aware of the purge being the gotei's doing or not, I can't really say because at some point Yamamoto removed that part of history from the academy's curriculum, and judging by some of the younger officers' reactions, it seems a great deal of them didn't know why they were being invaded (hell, in the story proper, they didn't know what a Quincy was at ALL until Rukia met Uryu and asked Urahara about his origins)

And as for Meninas, she also comes from a future generation. Unfortunately there's not enough info on the Quincy faction, on how time passes for them within the shadows of Soul Society/Wandenreich, let alone at what point was Meninas recruited to the Sternritter, or if she was even born in the Wandenreich, or if she got picked up from some settlement outside like Jugram and Bazz-B were.

All I can say for certain is: she definitely knew what went down between shinigami and Quincy during the first Blood War, definitely learned about the purge, but didn't know about Yhwach's true goals and nature.

Plus, the way the Sternritter works in a very militant, despotic, dog eat dog type of way. Each member acts as a surveillance unit to watch for any bad behavior from their companion and immediately report anomaly/treasonous action; mistakes are paid for with lives, the schrift users get picked personally by Yhwach, either by Pious Means like Äs Nödt was (as pious as a tyrant like Yhwach can be, anyway. A death sentence disguised as a second chance at life), or by force like Bazz-B was (forced to watch his home burn, become alienated from his closest and only friend and basically dehumanize him so bad until he's begging to join the ranks with the promise of a chance to kill the man that ruined him as bait.)

We're not told how the femritters were recruited, but it's certain they had no choice in the matter and, like all the rest of their compatriots, they had to make the best of their situation with what they had at hand.

In a Q&A session, Kubo couldn't really call the femritters friends because the sentiment depends on what each of them thinks of the others at the moment. They're the closest thing to a team within the Sternritter, but they're still terribly imbalanced because they won't hesitate to be at each other's throats.

Meninas is perhaps the chillest of the 5, and though she plays into the role of dumb muscle, she's actually someone that only wants some peace and quiet (as shown by the Brave Souls side stories). She dislikes it when people talk about her behind her back, HATES it when they underestimate her (Rukia was at the receiving end of her ire), and does show a level of camaraderie for her fellow femritters as she helps a wounded Candice around. And she was well liked enough by Liltotto as the latter cannibalizes Pepe for brainwashing her.

The attitude difference between Isane and Meninas is that, while both can't afford to stop and think about their situations during the war, Isane's investment in keeping casualties to a minimum not only stem from her duty as the current leader of the 4th, but also because many of those wounded and dead are her friends and companions. Meanwhile, Meni has to rain destruction cause that's her job, and if she doesn't, she's gonna get horribly punished by her own faction.

We don't know what level of angst Meni feels herself since she's never shown individually, but being a Quincy under Yhwach's command is already a miserable position to be in.

Ñehehehe Meninas/Isane is also a pairing I like because of the "there's a taller woman than Isane and she has none if the angst but she's also meaner when tested >:3" reasons. would have loved to see a showdown between them, even if short lived.

Isane is also confirmed to be pretty physically strong ("an imposing frame that betrays her gentle demeanor" and a recent Q&A session revealed she broke a wooden sword with her bare hands to chase off a creeper that was harassing Kiyone during their academy days), the only reason why she's not seen that way is cuz she's within the vicinity of Super Strong And Scary Freak Of Nature Unohana.
