This excessive self-confidence is a fluke. It is a false sense of overwhelming pride that goads him into certain speech patterns and behaviors that often spell misfortune. It’s a protective disguise as he does not truly believe that he is worth as much as he pretends. This arrogance creates a sort of barrier. It prevents people from desiring to know him and, if he keeps it up, it will also prevent him from proving to Penny that there is more to him than this pretentious facade.

Seth is currently attempting to court Penny. While this may be an old-fashioned idea, he wanted to impress upon her that he values her. Learning about her preferences for different subjects and about her in general leaves him with a smile. While he did meet her in his First year in Potions, he really was able to learn more about her later on in his Second year. Not only was she skilled at Potions but her ability to know what was going on in Hogwarts drew him in. Seth also has an ear for gossip and rumors so they began to speak regarding a few of them as she helped tutor him in potions. He’s working on enchanting a flower for her. It’s……… been a process.

【Platonic】As for platonic affection, he will demonstrate acts of it. He’s good with mimicry and learning what certain people prefer. It is nothing more than a hollowed-out gesture. He’ll move hair out of faces and other small gestures but he won’t ever hug you. An offering of platonic affection is welcomed. Such positive attention should be lavished upon him and it’s quite rude of you to wait so long to reach that conclusion.
