My take on how it went when Hunter noticed Raine acting weird.

Ok, so it looks like Raine is gonna be under some kind of mind control or hypnosis or something.
They are observably acting out of character, as noted by Hunter and shown by the fact that they are on that big float in front of what one would assume is a huge audience. Â
What I wonder is how much awareness does Raine have during this??Â
Their eyes look kind of vacant in that shot, especially compared to the shot of their younger eyes, but they aren't compleatly blank. Something catch's their attention in a second and they look over. As they do the ominous spiky red reflections on their glasses clear awayÂ
Could that be depicting a moment of lucid recognition? Maybe Raine recognizes Eda? Â

From the lighting, it looks like that shot of their eyes takes place during what I assume is the coven day parade.

Also makes me wonder how much Raine is or isn't being guarded / how often or consistently are they are being controlled. Did Hunter observe Raine acting weird during a meeting? If the plant coven leader is like there escort or controller or whatever, it would be easy enough to hide that during a meeting with everyone else also there, but like, if Hunter just saw Raine in the hall or something I think he might have mentioned the plant coven leader being around. Who knows though. Â
Hunter clearly has no clue what's going on. He doesn't know about Raine plotting against the emperor, or their run in with Kiki, or the coven seal thing. Hunter also seems upset by Raines change in behavior, he must have had some kind of positive opinion or interactions with Raine before, and I’m really excited to see what Hunter will do / think when he learn about what they did and what's happening to them. Maybe Hunter will play a role in saving Raine? Maybe the opposite, maybe he’ll be upset by their betrayal and will foil a rescue attempt?Â
I really wonder how dark the show is gonna go with this. They are good at presenting things that have very dark implications in a way that does not feel too out of place in a kids show.Â
  This shot implies some sort of encounter with at least the plant coven leader, and it’s got to involve or be about Raine considering the end credits card.
I seriously doubt that whole situation will be resolved in that one ep considering that it’s significant enough to warrant its own end card. Eda’s not gonna win this fight and I don’t see her backing down without a damn good reason. The show likely needs a reason by the end of the ep for Eda not to immediately go after Raine again, so maybe they’re going to use Raine against her, or threaten their well being in order to manipulate Eda?Â
It would be so cruel to force Raine to fight Eda, especially if they have some sort of awareness of what’s happening but I could see the show pulling it off.
Guess we’ll find out real soon.Â
