100% tryna fit the s/i in canon, it's kinda important to me XD tho for the purposes of getting more freedom, I do tend to prefer for them to eventually pull into the orbit of the canon rather than be in the middle of it!

most tend to start off with kinda chance meetings, ish!

gi is family with one of the "mauldalorian" leaders (rook kast), and gets asked to come over to repair a broken computer, basically, bc they're techy. and gi is kinda nosy so when they run into savage they're kinda like yo u guys should know mando'a if u wanna be mando'ade it's kinda a thing! (incidentally it does seem that maul learned at least the alphabet canonically!) savage's first reaction to gi is confusion but also some curiosity, the poor bitch has never run into a nonbinary person before in his life, and gi is chatty in a mundane way that just puts savage's mind at ease, as it turns out.

vinnie was road tripping to visit gem ruins & beach city bc they wanted to get to know their heritage bc their mom was also a gem! they just didn't have any gems or ppl who rly even knew anything abt gems around them growing up, so they're finding out now. they decide to stay around beach city for a while to get to know more abt all these real living gems! and vinnie/jasper kinda just happens :')

and mikitta/mayhem as we know gets recruited as an avenger at the end of aou and since vision spared ultron as a potato, in ca:cw mikitta/mayhem decide that better grab potato ultron just in case tony gets compelled to hand him over or smth, mikitta is not inclined to trust the us govt or any us govt adjacent entities and ultron with each other, considering just.... everything. ultron being ultron, the "shield turned out to be teeming with hydra agents" thing, the sokovia accords being sus af, just bad vibes all around. completely unrelatedly to anything mayhem (the symbiote) is curious about ultron anyways. and ultron does find maykitta to be tolerable as far as avengers go :') they grow kinda attached to each other while on the run, but it still takes a whiiiile (...10 years????? hopy shit. well 5 from mikitta's pov cuz the snap) for a romance to bloom 🌹

📱: How does communication work for your f/o's culture in comparison to yours? Are there any specific rules that must be followed?

Gi (Gi Kast/Savage Opress): Oh, hm! We haven't really chafed in terms of communication, but aruetiise do often note than mandos expect more blunt speech. Like, when teaching a Basic-speaker Mando'a, we have to explain things like, if I ask you me'vaar ti gar I do mean I want to know what's new with you, and if there is nothing to report then you say naas, nothing. It's not polite to respond with something like "I'm well, thank you" because that's not what was asked.

💥: Did they have any sense of culture shock if their culture is different from yours? How about you over theirs?

Gi: Absolutely. Now, it's not like Mandalorians were the first non-Dathomirian people Vaash came across, but we were the first he saw more of. But probably the biggest culture shock, for both of us, was the completely different gender norms. Mandalorian culture is... I'd almost say degendered, but we do have the concept of marriage. Meanwhile, Dathomirian culture is gender-segregated and female-dominated. There's no concept of marriage, and a Nightbrother Selected by a Nightsister is practically viewed as her property. I... Guess it's lucky that I'm neither. Easier.

🍲: Let's talk food! Are there any culturally-unique dishes you've tried making for your f/o? Are there any they've made for you?

Vinnie (Jasper/Vinnie): Jasper doesn't really eat, but she did try Finnish spring mead when I made it once. It's... kind of like a fermented lemonade? Or ginger beer, but with lemon instead of ginger. It can also use rhubarb and even celery! Would you believe that the celery version is actually pretty tasty?

... But yeah she still spat it out. 😂 (It wasn't the celery one, she just didn't want to deal with the whole... Passing things through her body thing. 🥲)

The mess? I'm gonna answer these with different characters cuz I'm feeling like it, lol.

📚: Are there any folk tales / local legends that you've told your f/o about?

Vinnie (Vinnie/Jasper): I actually can't think of one that I'd have mentioned! But I'll share one now! In Finland, you can end up under a phenomenon called "forest cover" or "forest blanket". It's the doing of the forest tutelars! Basically, if you find yourself walking in circles, or everything suddenly looks completely unfamiliar, it's possible you're under forest cover! I actually know someone who's experienced this, and you can also find people sharing experiences with this online. A way to try to elevate your odds to get out of it is to turn your jacket inside-out and put your shoes on opposite feet. Although... Now I'm starting to wonder if this isn't really just some kind of Gem tech thing...

🍲: Let's talk food! Are there any culturally-unique dishes you've tried making for your f/o? Are there any they've made for you?

Gi (Gi Kast/Savage Opress): Oh, it's not about trying. Considering Vaash was on Mandalore already, he'd tried some of our foods before we even met. Mostly the ration foods, like our stinky dried fish meal preserve gihaal, and haashun, which is a parchment bread ration cracker. He'd already tried uj cake, too, and everyone loves that unless they're allergic to nuts. I did get to be the first to properly introduce him to our spicy casserole, tiingilar, though! Most recipes use onion and garlic, but he's allergic, so I made some without those. Took him some getting used to, apparently Dathomiri foods are more likely to be sour than nose-burning. Vaash doesn't mind our classic liquors and ales, either, but he doesn't really drink.

On the other hand, a lot of Dathomir-specific ingredients are kind of difficult to get elsewhere, and back on Dathomir that was really all that the Nightbrothers' food was, so...

🚂: Is there a location that has high cultural value to you or your f/o? Would you ever like to go there?

Gi: We should probably go visit Dathomir. He's not seemed too keen to, though, considering.

and it crossed my mind that a part of jasper would probably think there's something appropriate about her degrading herself with a half-human. at least in her worse moments.

Nope, and probably better that way, since Jasper isn't really the biggest fan of Earth critters 😅 She doesn't see the point. I wonder if she could warm up to a dog... 🤔

❤️‍🔥: how does your love languages differ?

Differences specifically, hmm... I'm more physical touch-oriented. coughtouchstarvedcough Sometimes it bothers her a bit, if I'm being "clingy", but something like a lil wrestling match is more her speed. I'd say our love languages align pretty well, though, it's more cultural, and I guess biological differences that make things weird sometimes. Like how touch really is a need for humans.

😘: any pet names they call you? you call them?

Nnnooo, we don't really call each other pet names. Personally, I'm not big on pet names in general. I may have called her honey once or twice. Now I kind of want to try to invent silly pet names to call her...
