itâs almost midnight and my fyp has been nothing but babies, babies and more babies.
Therefore, I gotta give the people what they want;
I suppose you could view this as a heavy prequel to my one shot âYou call me a miracle, but all I see is a monster.â It isnât entirely fixated on the background of how Olivia came into their lives, but it does have sprinkles of such within the Whump.
With that context given, and for those who have read the one shot thisâll hit a little harder; however itâs not necessary to. You can enjoy this little drabble thing without ! Just â idk wanted to clarify.
If Jake were honest, he still couldnât believe they let them leave with her. Somethingâ no, someone so small, pink and perfect was now theirs for the rest ofâŠforever.
A tiny thing, no more than seven pounds of perfect had spent the whole ride home just to his left.
Heâd spent the last hour unable to take his eyes off her. Sheâd slept for the most part, thank God butâŠto watch her tiny chest rise and fall beneath the buckle and every time she let out a sleepy little squeak or coo, Jakes heart would ping just the smallest bit.
His body already seemingly in tune with hers.
Their little Olivia Rose.
The moment Bradley had tugged the keys from the ignition and turned to look over his shoulder at Jake, it all suddenly became really real.
Jake had just for a moment met Bradleyâs gaze, him from the middle seat, Bradley still perched in the drivers.
Jake wasnât sure. This would only happen once. Heâd only step over the threshold and welcome Olivia Rose home once and truthfully? He wasnât sure he was ready.
He let his eyes wander to her tiny frame all nestled in the seat, buckled in, safe and sound.
God it was forever now. They wereâ bringing their little girl home for the very first time.
âYeah, Iâm ready.â Jake responded after what felt like an eternity but had really only been a handful of moments.
Jake reached and popped his own seatbelt, his eyes followed as Bradley slipped from the drivers seat, the florals of his button up fluttering behind him as he rounded the vehicle with purpose.
He was there in an instant, the door pulled open and his lips fixed into a small smile.
Oliviaâs little legs stretched and she offered her fatherâs a big yawn.
Jake shifted over, releasing the seatbelt that held Oliviaâs car seat in place. Bradleyâs hands guided it back carefully, his voice honey smooth, warm and safe for their little girl.
âAlright Livy girlâŠCome on,â he whispered, his calloused hands carefully guiding Oliviaâs car seat out, being exorbitantly careful not to bang any of it against the door. Bradley carefully shifted forward, making just enough space for Jake to slip out.
His heart thundered in his chest, pounding so loud it was a miracle it hadnât burstâŠyet anyway.
His body slid against the fabric and then his boots hit the pavement. He stood straight, wiping his palms against his waist simply because they were sweating so bad.
For just a moment, they stood there. Feet planted on the pavement, Olivia Rose secured in her car seat and supported by her Papas strong arms.
Jake met Bradleyâs gaze, the two stalling, dragging this moment out for all it was worth.
âCâmon,â Jake finally mumbled, being the one to take the first step towards the rest of forever.
His steps were measured and gentle yet purposeful, the front door drawing closer and closer. The soft scuff of Bradley followed behind.
The stair whined beneath his boot, yet he let it pass, his fingers fumbled for his pocket.
In one swift motion, Jake retrieved the keys and after just a second of fiddling with them, heâd found it.
Jake stood before the door, his hands reached for the screen door, the seal thatâd been formed breaking for the first time in almost a week. With his shoulder, Jake held the screen door open and he carefully pushed the key into the lock, twisting and then he pulled.
In just a matter of moments, Olivia Rose Seresin-Bradshaw would be home.
In mere seconds their little girl would cross the threshold of their home and itâd beâŠ
He wasnât entirely sure why his eyes were growing glassy, but for just a second, Jake shot a look over his shoulder where Bradley stood behind him. His arms full of a bulking car seatâŠthe one thing that held all six pounds of his world.
âYou good?â Bradley asked, a faint smirk settled onto his face.
Jake scoffed but nodded, âYeahâŠIâm good,â he responded âIâm real good.â
He turned back, his fingers found the knob and he twisted. He crossed the threshold quick only to turn and press his back against the door to watch with his own eyes.
Bradley was so careful, his left hand supporting the bottom and his right holding the back.
âAlright sweet girl,â Bradley whispered and then it happened;
Bradley Seresin-Bradshaw crossed the threshold and stepped into their home, bringing Olivia Rose with him.
âWelcome home baby girlâŠâ
Jake sniffled, unsure why he himself was crying butâŠhe couldnât stop.
Because truth be told, Jake had thought the moment heâd heard her first squeaky little cry, everything made sense.
He thought the first moment her little body had curled into his arms, the songs made sense but Godâ
Seeing his husband step into their home, now officially a trio rather than a duo itâ
Every decision heâd made, had led him to this moment.
Every ounce of pain, of frustration, of fear and angerâ had all led Jake here.
And God, he couldnât be happier.
He watched the way Bradley turned to him, and Jake wasted no time pushing the door, a conforming click followed once it was shut.
Jake stepped forward, his eyes softened as they settled right onto Olivia. Her big olâ eyes meeting his.
Bradley couldnât keep a soft, stunned laugh from leaving him.
âHoly shitâŠJake,â he whispered, âwe brought home a baby.â
Jake shifted his focus and he too, let a soft snicker escape.
âYeah RooâŠwe did. We brought our girl home.â
Bradley nodded, carefully pulling the seat closer to him and twisting his neck just slightly to peak at their girl.
âAnd now itâs for realâŠset in stoneâŠOliviaâs oursâŠforever.â
It held so much weight; a weight Jake was, truly grateful was his to carry.
Jake nodded, the reality once more washing over him.
This man. This little girl. This house. This life.
Jake took a cautious step forward, his heart on the brink of bursting, he let himself release less than a fraction of that love. His lips gently pressed to Bradleyâs cheek.
âit isâŠand honestly? I couldnât be happier.â
Bradley beamed, his face flushed a soft pink, only to nod gently toward their living space, the one theyâd prepped for this moment.
âCâmon,â he whispered, âletâs go get her settled⊠âm sure sheâd be happier in your arms.â
Jake loved how that sounded, and without missing a singular beat, he followed Bradley.
Because their new life was officially beginning.
And he didnât want to miss a single second.
This took like an hour to write lol.
Ur welcome âŒïž I should probably go to bedâŠwill I tho? debatable guysâŠ.debatable.
