also your ron headcanon is spot on he IS all of those things andwould probably struggle not only with his own diminished sense of self worthbut also the niggling doubts and the knowledge that he could have gone anywhereand would wonder if he truly belonged poor ron

✨ - 1) i love and support any headcanonthat has james’ parents as poc immigrants who dote on their only son and givehim the best life they could, leading him to being a little sheltered andentitled, but growing to appreciate his parents all the more once he gets hishead deflated a little; i’m personally partial to james being desi but allinterpretations are valid and loved (actually pretty much any hp character canbe seen as poc if you’re flexibly minded)

2) of all the founders helga hufflepuff had the highest body countand was also the tallest, being descended from a northern germanic tribe. whenthe other founders were bickering over and narrowing down who was and was notworthy to attend their baby brand new school, helga casually leaned on hermassive battleaxe and said she’d take the rest, and not a single argument wasraised against her

3) ron seems like he might struggle with a learning disorder basedon his reaction to classes and homework in the books; it’s easy to view someoneas ‘lazy’ for not wanting to do work ever, and that might be the case, but also‘lazy’ can be code for ‘i’ve struggled with this my entire life, no one canmake it any easier, and they’re tired of trying to help and i’m tired of strugglingfor zero reward on things that everyone else just breezes through’. having workedand lived with people with dyslexia, adhd, and multiple other factors leadingto reading being Really Hard, it’s easy to see that when something is ReallyHard, you kind of hate doing it (hence ron’s groaning about work) and don’tunderstand why other people love it (the disconnect between ron and hermione’sattitudes and approaches to bookwork). and… lazy is usually the word used todescribe those people. if you haven’t struggled, it’s really difficult toempathize, and sometimes the struggle isn’t even visible. it’s easy to say “justtry harder” or “why can’t you just do this one thing” or “have you tried ___?”ron does try! He’s a brilliant strategist, remembers numbers and facts andyears for quidditch statistics and obscure wizarding laws on dragon smuggling onoccasion, and makes connections to facts that hermione and harry and the readerhave all forgotten (the basilisk fangs in dh) and comes up with solutions onthe fly (manipulating malfoy’s gang into taking and eating weasleys’ wizardwheezes in ootp)—he just doesn’t like doing bookwork. that often leads to himbeing characterized as lazy, ignorant, or unintelligent, when he’s none ofthose things, and it’s a huge injustice to his character

✨ - my initial reaction is of coursethe invisibility cloak, as we see in the series that it is held up to be thesmart choice, the ideal, the least costly of the three – but in the end, allthree bearers end up dying, as do their representative characters in the books,even harry. if you had asked me a few years ago, i would have said theresurrection stone without hesitation, but these days i would rather the dead i’velaid to rest stay at peace. the elder wand is the most powerful of the three,and a sorely tempting prospect for those of us grounded in more mundaneexistences – the ability to access and revel in magic is not one so easilypassed up, but it comes at such a cost that i’m not sure it would ever be worthit, not when it’s still possible to see the magic in the lives we do have. so thatleaves the invisibility cloak, but i think even its passive protection would bestifling after a while once the novelty of invisibility wore thin. even if noone knows you can turn invisible, can you really escape your troubles so simply?is it even ethical to hide from death when everyone you pass is so vulnerableto its vagaries? how do you decide when to cast it off? is it time when yourfriends are gone? your lover? your child? your dog? when the weight of theworld becomes too heavy a burden for shoulders drawn down by invisible cloth? idon’t think i could ever decide to take on any of them, and that might be a cop-outbut it’s the most honest truth i can give wow sorry that got really deep my bad– which would you take, if you could?
