“Moony!” He heard the exuberant cry and saw James and Sirius running toward him. The two other boys all but tackled him as he prepared to board the train. Remus managed to shake them off, grinning. He and Sirius stared at each other for a beat and Remus felt an almost imperceptible squeeze of his hand. He froze for a moment with beautiful seventeen year old Sirius so close. And then Peter was there too and their group was complete. Remus felt himself relax for the first time since July and bask in the closeness of his best friends. 

He and James had to head off to the prefect carriage. Had he known Quidditch captains were also eligible for Head Boy, he wouldn’t have been as surprised when James was appointed. He didn’t expect he would get it, exactly, but it sometimes seemed like James just got everything.

As they entered, newly appointed Head Girl Lily turned around and grinned at them.

“Potter.” Lily said coolly, then turning to Remus, she hugged him. “Remus, good to see you. How are you?” Remus returned the hug. He could see James struggling with this greeting but both Remus and Lily knew they didn’t like each other like that .

I got it when first opened the first book.

I got it when I watched my first hp movie.

I got it when my friends and I pretended we were wizard dueling with sticks in the schoolyard.

I got it when a fanfic brought me to tears.

I got it when a parody made me laugh so hard my belly hurt.

I got it when I found people I could count on, no matter the distance between us.

I got it when people chose to stand up for what's right against what brought them together in the first place.

Here's to all of us who never got a hogwarts letter. We got something way better in return

Relatives of the victims of the Beslan school siege gathered Sunday to pay tribute at the ruins of the school, remembering the 330 people, including 186 children, who lost their lives in Russia’s deadliest terror attack.

School bells rang at 9:15 a.m. local time, marking the start of the siege 20 years ago, while mourners laid flowers, lit candles, and placed bottles of water — a tribute to the hostages who were held in inhumane conditions.

On Sept. 1, 2004, militants from Chechnya stormed Beslan School No. 1 in North Ossetia, demanding the withdrawal of Russian forces from Chechnya. Gunmen took 1,100 hostages, including children, parents and teachers who had come to the school to celebrate the start of the new academic year.

For nearly 52 hours, the hostages were held without food or water. Negotiations with the militants were tense and largely unproductive, with the attackers refusing to back down from their demands.

On the third day of the hostage crisis, a series of explosions erupted inside the school, plunging the situation into chaos and triggering an assault by Russian special forces. It remains unknown whether the explosions were accidental detonations or triggered by the militants, who had rigged the school with bombs.
