Hey! I've been trying to find this fic for quite some time now. It was one where Grimmauld Place was kinda playing a matchmaker. . I remember it showing Harry a scene of him kissing Draco in the foyer at the beginning and at the end it showed them getting engaged. I have come across the concept of sentient magic and I find it so fascinating that I have been thinking my new wip Summer Storms over if and how it could fit there. It's turning out it would fit greatly - I can keep the magic types and make them into the ways of access of magic, while giving it its own agenda and dislikes, which gives much more meaning to places and situations where magic isn't - because it left - or when magic hurts - because it's lashing out. Which therefore can become an important part of the protagonists, to bring magic back and teach people to treat and use it right and enhances the themes of their arcs.
Magic basically cares about the intentions with which it's used and I think this will give all the interactions in the story an interesting factor to consider.
