What's it called when you freak out (and have something similar to an autistic melt down) from too much sensory input (I have spd) but you aren't autistic?
I have Sensory Processing Disorder but not autism,
As far as we know,
What would this be called?
I don't want to sound ableist or offend anyone by calling it a melt down
Starting now, I will no longer be posting slime videos on my stim account. I feel like all stim blogs have slime videos and for some its not enjoyable so I will be posting other types of stims.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a ‘white noise’ app?
I’ve used ‘better sleep’ formally ‘relax melodies’ for probably close to 10 years. But I had my suspicions that it is associated with better help now, which I just now remembered & bothered to look up. Yes it is owned by the same parent company & I do not want to support that BS in any way.
Most other noise apps at the time had really obvious loop points in their sounds. This one never has. I’m assuming there must be something out there. *No I do not use any music streaming services for sounds of there
Day 128.
Leigh Harbour to Matheson Bay Swim w / the Pod (3kms).
A much needed stretch out and sensory modulation swim, gliding along the coastline from the harbour to the bay. There was a gentle swell rocking my brain overload into submission and we had a little picnic afterwards to celebrate Mother’s Day. It was such an epic challenge for me to get in the water today, I was having overwhelmingly strong physical ticks that I couldn’t control, but with the help of my friends, I did it - and it was SO worth it!!

Sensory group with my chickpea today, hopefully learn something new this time, or at least get to touch some cool stim toys
Felt impulsive & destructive last night so I brought this that I had been eyeing for a few weeks. 😍
I would be so much worse off right now without mouse. My 4kg weighted dog. So greatful for this buddy. From when I’m really to distressed to even on placement, they help settle me at the end of a long day when I’m processing & trying to relax. I hope one day if it’s not done sooner, I’m lucky enough to bring the evidence to weighted sensory items for OT’s to prove what I know to be true. It’s so important to be able to put evidence behind this so that other people are able to benefit from it.
