Without learning and truely understanding any sense we use becomes meaningless. LEARN&KNOW is the work in the Senses Lights series that ties it all together. Where the other pieces in the series address sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell, the mind combines them all. It creates an understanding of the world we live in and our position in it. The two words are printed as one object. They share edges. They collapse into each other. Touch is probably the most personal and private sense we have. We only want to be touched by people we know and trust. TOUCH&FEEL is the fifth work in the Senses Lights series. The series has moved from sound surrounding you, to vision directing you, to smell arriving uninvited, to taste pulling inward. Now it arrives at the most intimate place of all. Taste is one of the most intimate of the senses. TASTE&SAVOUR is the fourth work in the Senses Lights series. The series has moved from sound surrounding you, to vision in front of you, to smell arriving without warning. Now it concentrates, pulls inward, asks for something more personal. The question the work asks extends well beyond food. The light draws you in before the words are read. The piece is experienced before it is understood. Of all the senses, smell is the most elusive. It arrives without warning, without permission, and is gone before you can name it. SMELL&SCENT is the third work in the Senses Lights series. This piece turns to the sense that is the hardest to hold. Smelling is involuntary and immediate. The nose receives what the environment releases, without preparation or choice. Scent is something more considered, a quality attributed, named, remembered and carried. Perfume has a scent. Memories have a scent. Vision is the sense you trust most. It is also the one you question least. LOOK&SEE is the second work in the Senses Lights series. It askes you to engage in what is presented to you. We point our eyes at the world and it returns an image. What wee see can be something completely different. An act of attention, interpretation and recognition that transforms what is looked at. The light arrives before the words do. We look first, and only afterwards, if we make the effort, we see. A question that is easy to read yet less easy to answer.

Sound is all around you. You cannot switch it off, you cannot look away from it. Of all the senses, hearing is the one the world imposes on you most completely. HEAR & LISTEN is the first work in the Senses Lights series. It is where the journey begins. Two words we treat as synonyms, yet they diiffer. Hearing is passive, automatic, the ear receives what the environment provides. Listening is deliberate, a choice to concentrate, to transform raw sound into meaning. By fusing the two into one illuminated form, the work asks you to actually listen to what you are hearing. The light reaches you before the words do. We perceive before we interpret.
