Ā Itās been forever since Iāve written anything other than stupid essays for class (I graduated, btw yay!) so FEEDBACK IS DEEPLY APPRECIATED!!!Ā Anyway, hope this doesnāt suck too bad. Ā Iām trying to get back into the swing of things, so sorry if it sucks.
Tapping. Ā Incessant tapping. Ā Thatās all Dean could hear when he woke up, and, frankly, it was beginning to annoy him, but that was overshadowed by the confusion fogging up his mind. Ā A twinge of pain in his left temple caused him to wince as he sat up and opened his eyes to the soft blue light from the moon seeping into the room from a tiny window at the top of the wall. Ā He glanced around the room he was in. Ā Concrete walls, bare floor, naked light bulb, broken dusty bookshelves on the wall, an old rusty bike sitting near him, a broken television amidst other junk. Ā Must be in a basement, he thought, but how did--
More tapping.
āSon of a bitch,ā he muttered under his breath, turning towards a silhouette in the window. Ā Thatās what must be tapping⦠ He managed to get to his feet without a problem (though his body ached and his head was throbbing) and went to the window. Ā The brass clasp on the bottom of it opened fairly easily, allowing the hunter to lift it open, revealing a familiar face. Ā āY/N!ā
āDean!ā Ā A grin creeped onto her face. Ā He always liked it when she did that. Ā āGod, Iām so glad we found you! Are you ok?ā Ā He could barely see her eyes clearly, but the worry lining her face was obvious.
āI think Iām all right. My head kinda hurts, but apart from thatā¦ā he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
āWell, Iād be surprised if your head didnāt hurt. Ā You were probably hit pretty hard. Ā A hit to knock you out could haveā¦ā she trailed off. Ā āWell, youāre obviously fine, now.ā
āY/N, whatās going on? What happened?ā Ā Dean asked, trying to search his memories for the answer, but it was too foggy.
āYou donāt remember?ā Dean shook his head, though he instantly regretted it as the twinge of pain returned. Ā āSam and I went to the old shoe factory to follow up on a lead, and you decided to go to the cemetery to take care of the salt ān burn. Ā It wasnāt just a ghost, Dean! Ā There was a ghoul, too! Ā We tried calling you, but you didnāt answer. Ā When you didnāt turn back up to the hotel after an hour, we got worried, so we followed your cell phone signal here.ā Ā She leaned down a bit more, getting closer to Deanās face. Ā Had the wind not been blowing so much, he would have smelt her perfume. Ā Suddenly, she began laughing.
āWhatās so funny?ā
āItās like youāre the damsel in distress and Iām Prince Charming!ā she giggled again, making Dean roll his eyes despite the smile plastered to his face. Ā āOh, how the tables have turned.ā
āDoesnāt that mean I get to kiss you at the end of this?ā Ā He quirked an eyebrow, licking his lips. Ā Y/N cocked her head to the side, a smirk playing on her lips. Ā She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, biting her lip, something she did subconsciously that drove Dean crazy. Ā
They had been flirting endlessly since the day they met, and thatās probably why Dean was so drawn to her. It was like theyād both fallen into an unspoken relationship that was never official. Ā They never went on dates, but they did almost everything else a couple would do. Ā It had been a year at least since the ārelationshipā started, so why hadnāt it gone any further than playful punches, long midnight chats, or never-ending flirting? Ā Because both saw it as a glorified friendship, and neither thought that their feelings would be reciprocated. Ā Both thought that, when the time comes, they could separate without any problems. Ā Until tonight. Ā
Y/N got worried when he didnāt pick up after the first 5 times, then she lost her mind when he wasnāt at the cemetery. Ā What if something bad happened? Ā What if he didnāt just go off to a bar and forget to turn his cell phone on? Ā What if someone took him? Ā What if heās dāshe wouldnāt let herself think that. Ā No way in hell would she be able to think clearly enough to find him if she let her mind wander to the worst-case scenario. Ā It wasnāt until Sam had brought up her panic in the car that she even realized how much she cared for him. Ā āI love him?ā she muttered to herself. Ā Then it hit her. Ā āI love him, Sam.ā Ā He nodded. Heād noticed a long time ago, and told her that she should let him know.
The fear twisted Y/Nās gut around, nervously waiting for her to confess something sheād only known herself for a short time. Ā āLook I have to tell you somethingāā she started, but a crash on the front porch stopped the words from escaping her lips. Ā Without even thinking, she bolted to help Sam, leaving Dean anticipating what she was going to say.
āWait, wait!ā he called after her, āNo, come back! Ā What wereāā Just as quickly as she had left, she was in front of him again.
āWait, Dean, I love you,ā she blurted, before turning to run again.
āI love you, too.ā Dean didnāt even have to think about it. He didnāt think about it. Ā It just sorta⦠fell out of his mouth.
āGreat,ā she breathed out, smiling like an idiot. Ā āWhat?ā Did he just say what I thought he said?
āYeah⦠ I love you. Ā Have for a long time,ā Dean confessed, now realizing how long heād been harboring feelings. Ā
Y/N didnāt know what to say. She stood there on the grass, frozen, unsure of what to do or say. Ā So much was going on, she barely had time to wrap her mind around the whole situation. āK,ā she quickly said before running back towards the house.
Dean froze in confusion. Did that actually just happen? Ā
A few minutes and dead ghouls later, Sam busted down the door to Dean, who was immediately enveloped in a bone crushing hug. Ā āDonāt ever burn bones by yourself again, ok?ā Ā Sam muttered, making Dean laugh.
āItās good to see you, too, Sammy,ā He chuckled into his brotherās shoulder. Ā Y/N stood outside the door, her hands in her pockets. Ā Dean didnāt take his eyes off her. Ā When he let go of his brother, Dean walked straight towards her, pushed her up against the dirty wall, and kissed her. Fireworks, explosions, electricity. It felt like the world was on fire as their lips moved in synchronization, her hands went up into his hair, his pulled her closer. Ā
Sam cleared his throat, signaling the couple to cease their make-out session. Ā Y/N pulled away, breathless. Ā āSo⦠thatās a thing.ā Ā Sam rolled his eyes, going back up the dark stairs. Ā
āIām going back to the car. Donāt take too long. Ā The cops might be headed here.ā Ā Y/N could have sworn he muttered something along the lines of āyaād think they could were rabbits or something,ā but she didnāt really focus on that when Deanās lips were on hers again. Ā
āWow, I didnāt know a Princess could kiss like that.ā Ā Dean rolled his eyes again at her statement. Ā āCāmon,ā Ā she took his hand, āletās get outa here. This place gives me the creeps.ā Ā They went up the stairs relatively quietly until she spun around. Ā āDean?ā
āY/N.ā
āDid you mean what you said? Do you really love me? Ā Because Iāve loved you for a long time I just didnāt see it until now and if you donāt like me that way thatās fine I can leave I just want to know because I donāt think I couldāā Ā Dean cut her ranting off with another kiss. Ā She deepened it, wrapping her arms around his neck. Ā He pulled away slowly, letting the action sink in. Ā She grinned sheepishly. Ā āThat was a really nice way of telling me to shut up.ā
āY/N, I have loved you for a long time. Ā I donāt know why I didnāt realize it sooner. Ā You have made my lifeāthis life bearable. Ā I never thought I would get the chance to be happy, but despite all this,ā he gestured to the stairwell, āyou fill my life with the kind of happiness I never knew.ā Ā Tears were welling up in her eyes, and she pulled him into a hug.
āI love you, Dean Winchester. Ā I love you so damn much, it hurts sometimes.ā
