//Tal’kaela’s parents did NOT approve of her friendship with the senators at all.  Her mother didn’t like the idea of her little uhlan daughter being in such close contact with anyone of political importance this early on in her military career.  She feared it would make Tal’kaela a target for blame if and when the senators disappeared.  Besides this, she has a special hatred for the Tal Shiar, so she was especially displeased about Tal’kaela becoming so close with the Vice Chairman.  She knows her daughter, and was afraid that Tal’kaela would get sucked into a twisted game of cat and mouse and end up stripped of her title, dead, or worse.  As for her own opinion of the senators and their politics, she was more tolerant of Letant than Vreenak, but she had a grudging respect for both of them.  She was always extremely careful about voicing her personal opinions about their politics.

Tal’kaela’s father, like her mother, was concerned that harm would end up coming to Tal’kaela, but he was also concerned that they would “corrupt” her. He didn’t like the idea of his idealistic daughter becoming apathetic or callous.  Although another part of him had to admit that she could, potentially, learn from them if everything went well, but he highly doubted that it would and would much rather she learn from someone safer.  He believed both Vreenak and Letant to be good senators, from what he could tell, but he was always hesitant to form solid opinions on political figures.

Tal'kaela sat tense in front of her screen as she read the message over and over.  It starts… She knew that after Vreenak’s death, rumors would spread and accusations would arise, but despite the fact that she had done her best to mentally prepare herself, she wasn’t prepared for the gut wrenching feeling this question gave her.  She took a deep breath and carefully formulated her response.

From what I recall, it was never unusual for senators to go missing or fall victim to accidents.  But yes, it is indeed a coincidence.

Tal’kaela stared at the message on her screen, finding an anxiety gripping her.  Was this a joke?  Was it a Tal Shiar agent trying to get something out of her?  Or, by some chance, was this some kind of wild invitation…?  She stared at the message with her fingers hovering over her keyboard before tentatively replying:

Perhaps someday if the opportunity ever presents itself.

//I never would have guessed, no! When I created her character, I created her to desperately seek (positive) attention and approval from her superiors.  When she got what she wished for, she was about as surprised as I was. =P

Tal’kaela: *sitting in class, as the professor is going over the basics that will be tested in the Pokemon Triathalon*

Tal’kaela: *thinking* This is it… this is what we’ll be graded on.  Professor Koval says that our places in the race don’t count toward our grade, rather how well we utilize the strengths of the pokemon we’re given. But of course everyone will be going for first place.  The winner gets 6 free credit hours and a ticket for $100 worth of food from the cafeteria!  I’d better analyze my competition…

Tal’kaela: Being that Pokemon Versatility 202 is one of the requirements for a specialty trainer degree, I’ve met quite several other specialty trainers in this class.  One of whom specializes in bird pokemon like myself. He goes by his last name, Vreenak. I think he’s aiming to get the last qualifications he’ll need to be a flying type gym leader, but he won’t give me a straight answer on that.  We’ve ended up becoming not-quite-friends I think… ((This is AU verse, Vree!Mun! In the normal verse, Tal’kaela definitely considers Vree to be a close friend of hers! ^^)) maybe because we both specialize in bird pokemon, I’m not sure. He’s the one who orchestrated that start of our acquaintanceship.  He’s a lot older and smarter than me, and is at the top of our class.  I really admire him a lot.

Vreenak: *catches Tal’kaela’s eye and smiles*

Tal’kaela: His smile terrifies me.

Letant: *leans over and whispers something to Vreenak*

Tal’kaela: Oh, and that’s Vreenak’s best friend, I think.  Some say they’re secretly dating, others say they’re actually political rivals (how that’s relevant, I don’t know.)  But after talking to them both, I’m sure they’re just close friends. Letant seems to like me well enough, but he doesn’t like my pokemon.  He doesn’t specialize in anything, and I’m not sure what kind of degree he’s going for.  I keep meaning to ask him, but every time I start to, I get distracted talking about something else.  Sometimes I wonder if he does it on purpose…

Tal’kaela: *catches Suran’s eyes and averts them quickly* Suran.  He was my teacher in high school.  He’s a good teacher!  Very strict, focused, and grades really really harshly!  I was shocked to see him here, but I didn’t dare ask him why.  To be honest, I’m almost afraid to beat him in the competition…

Tal’kaela: And then there’s Verelan…. She and I have been rivals from the beginning.  At the beginning of the class, Koval gave us each a random pokemon and pitted us against another student in a battle. Verelan was given a Charizard and I was given a stupid Marrowack.  She beat me, of course.  We had to congratulate each other at the end of the battle and I could swear she was gloating with the look in her eye!  We’ve been rivals ever since, but we’er both pretending to be friends to try to learn more about the other.  Just pretending.  It’s not like I actually like her or want to be her friend or anything!  Rediculous!

Verelan: *raises her hand to ask a question*

Tal’kaela: I also suspect that the professor doesn’t like her...
