Tip: if you wanna learn to be a more positive thinker challenge yourself to think of at least 3 things you like about each person you meet, and 3 things you like about yourself each time you look in the mirror
Decide right now that today is going to be a good day!
Hey. So I have been working on becoming vegan, but its been kind of difficult because I'm home for break and my entire family eat meat and dairy products. So I was just wondering if maybe you can give me some suggestions on what kinds of things you make for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Places to shop? What brands are vegan cheese? Or anything else that would help me start this. Please and thank you.
I’m currently home for break with a meat eating family too! Luckily mine is super supportive of me- so you should talk to them and let them know why you are doing this and why it is important to you! Also try offering to cook some meals for them- or help cook, this was you can make foods that are vegan!
Also check out my page where i tag all my food pics for some other ideas! http://stolenfootprints.tumblr.com/tagged/selenafood
Food ideas:
Breakfast
Smoothies!!!!! bananas, frozen fruit, almond milk or juice! You can make tons of different types and also add leafy greens! I drink a smoothie every morning and then often times will have something else to go with it
Oatmeal- super easy and cheap, plus you can customize it with berries, fruits, nuts, granola, seed, brown sugar, cinnamon etc etc etc so you aren’t having the same thing all the time!
Waffles! All gluten-free waffles i have found are vegan and are super yummy and easy to make in the mornings. I’ll often times have a smoothie and 2-3 waffles with syrup
Toast!! You can put tons of things on it like peanut butter, avocado, earth balance butter and cinnamon
lunch
leftovers from a previous dinner
Sandwich- my favorite is just bread, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, and mustard!
PB&J
Pasta with red sauce
SoupsÂ
Pita bread, carrots, and hummus
Rice and beans
Dinner
Pasta with red sauce and veggies on the side
rice beans and veggies
burritos or tacos (rice, beans, avocado, salsa)
Pita bread, hummus and falafel
A huge salad
Sweet potato or normal potato oven baked fries
pizza (chibata bread or pizza crust with red sauce, mushrooms, spinach, bell peppers, olives etc etc)
Sushi
Veggie burger
If you have a health food store by you it’s worth checking out to see if there are any vegan options of things you may like such as “meats” vegan cheese (get daiya brand) vegan butter (earth balance brand), vegan frozen foods etc etc- but this isn’t needed!! It’s perfectly possible (and cheaper) to eat things such as what i have listen above instead of finding vegan versions of things!
Hi i really want to be a vegan but im not sure where to start. Could you maybe give me some tips to transition and maybe a few recipes as well? Thank you so much!
Start with educating yourself. The more you know the more passionate you will be and the less likely you will want to transition back into a meat eating diet. Watch Cowspiracy on netflix, it goes over the environmental benefits of a vegan diet and lifestyle. Watch Forks over Knives on netflix, it talks about the health benefits of not consuming animals or animal product. Also watch Earthlings on Youtube, this shows what goes on inside the factories of animal agriculture. i would highly suggest watching all three because they each go over such different topics that are all so important to understand if you are planning to become vegan!
Next start saving recipes! Check out my page where i tag all of the food i eat/make. Many are self explanatory on how to make, others have recipes in the captions! My favorites are my vegan mac and cheese, my vegan potato fries and guac, and also some yummy homemade vegan noodle soup. All are easy and cheap to make! Also check out a post i made here of a day of eating vegan with little food preparation or time cooking! Also know that for baking you can really take any recipe and use non-dairy milk, earth balance vegan butter, and then ÂĽ cup of applesauce per egg the recipe says!

2015 has been my best year yet. I have grown so much more than i could ever have imagined, i have fallen in love with the earth and everything around me. I have made the incredible transition to veganism and have never felt better about any other choice i have made. I am so full of love- for others and i have come so far with my own self love this year. i have worked so hard on my yoga, on staying positive in hard situations and i have been living in my own house and am out of my parents and the dorm rooms. 2015 has been a huge year of change for me but i have never been happier or more in love with life.
I’m feeling pretty confident about going into 2016- Let’s do this!
What i think we should all make our new years resolutions:
Drink more water
Spend more time outside
Focus on the positive
Pet more dogs
perks and downsides to being vegan?
Perks of being vegan:
Knowing that animals were not killed or hurt in the making of my meals
I don’t have to worry about eating too much/being able to eat what i want when i want
Knowing that i have a much smaller environmental footprint than the average american
Knowing i am doing something good for myself, the animals, and our mother earth
Feeling energized and always down to do things rather than being tired all day
My skin and hair have gotten increasingly healthier
Not bloatingÂ
banana smoothies
Knowing i am not putting gross unnecessary hormones into my body
Not having to worry about cholesterol
Spending less money on food and groceries
Not drinking cow utter puss
Not being oblivious to the animal agriculture industry
Being able to say i love animals and not being a hypocriteÂ
Being able to say i love the environment and not being a hypocriteÂ
Downsides of being vegan:
Realizing how scary society is- that so many people (and i used to) think it’s perfectly okay and normal to torture, rape, murder, and exploit other living beings.
