My head hits her pillow with a jolt, the smell that I remembered from better days filling my nostrils. My hair, wet and messy, tangles around my face as my mind relives moments that will last forever. As my eyes flutter shut I can still feel her lips whisper against my forehead, tracing the same words into my mind over and over. I can feel the grip of her cold hands around my wrists as she holds them away from my face. I feel her cold toes pinch at my feet, and her bone straight hair tickling my face as if she held herself above me, oh God I smell her skin, and feel it too. She smells like chemicals and apples, yet her skin is tight and leather like. I know that she isn’t there though, I know that she is gone away from me. I know that I am alone in her room and Jaxon is outside the door. I know that I shouldn’t be here, he knows it and yet he lets me, maybe because he is too tired to pull me away from her bed, or maybe he is giving me one last moment with, and yet without, Lenore. Maybe he is letting me reminisce in my pain because that’s what I told him I wanted. To drowned in reality that comes with the going down of the sun, maybe he let me because he knew floating in this was worst than drowning. I can still feel her lips trace the words on my forehead; I’ll be okay. But I know I won’t be okay. Paper Thin on wattpad // Seeking Freedom
