      ❛ PFSHHT. WHAT? ‘HIDING something?’  ❜

  the moment footsteps echoed in the cavernous castle room hunk had   been quick to stuff whatever he had been holding ( albeit conspicuously )   behind his back, glancing up at the paladin who had entered with a gaze   close to a child getting caught stealing the cookie out of the jar. hunk   quickly schooled his features, though, making a disbelieving gesture   at any accusations. his tone was an attempt at sounding hurt.

He thinks of the sleepless nights where he stares at the ceiling of the castle and wonders if he will ever see his family again. He thinks of the times that he doesn’t feel good enough to keep up with the others. The way he is the weakest in close combat, the worst pilot, the least connected to his lion. He thinks of the nights that gives him dreams of moving through tar and never getting to where he should be on time, every nightmare that has him running in circles instead of finding his friends. The jeering horrible voices in his head that tells him that he is too late but, it is okay. Everyone else has already taken care of the enemy. Without him. 

Each time he can’t remember why he wasn’t there for them. Yet they didn’t need him at all.

He’d never realized how disorienting the world - well, universe - could be when you were absent from it for a year. At least, when everyone told you it was a year and you just have to nod your head because hey, it’s not like you know any better.

But he trusted Keith as well as the rest of the team and since they weren’t being blown up at the moment, maybe he could get some answers. And maybe under the surface, he still missed home.
