He hates to admit it, but he’s in the same boat with Kuroo-chan when it comes to following orders. Oikawa doesn’t question them. His concern does not extend itself past that of his teammates ( it just barely extends to the other teams in Secom to be honest ) and the task before hand. Whether that meant it was to kill the a target ( or targets, who knew ) or if it was to protect, it didn’t matter. Get the job done and maybe you’ll be back at base in time for dinner. Speaking of dinner, Oikawa Tooru didn’t want to miss out on it. It’s nothing like what they could have gotten back at base, but after scouting around the city for so long, it was nice to come back in one piece to a hot meal. At the crackling static that enters his ear, he frowns. “Captain, we have a confrontation with some of the soldiers.” So much for coming to dinner on time.
“Boys~” He greets them with such a saccharine smile as soon as he makes his way towards the group, honeyed words flowing off his tongue. It seems as though his presence only makes the soldiers bristle further, hackles raised already because the military never appreciated help from private security. Meanwhile his men, so much fewer than this one squad, make way for him ( they part down the middle just like the sea would ). The captain holds his arms out in a welcoming gesture, so innocent and harmless ( they would have to be fools to believe that ). “Let’s not be hasty, shall we?” As much as he would have loved to see his men besting these military dogs, it would be a waste of energy and ammunition. So he’ll let them off with a warning this time. “We wouldn’t want any reports about friendly fire.” The gleam in his eye was nothing friendly, by far it looked more cruel ( menacing and predatory ).
It’s then that he notices a figure coming towards them. “Ah, is that your captain coming?“ He raises a hand to shield his eyes from the last light of the setting sun. Yet when he sees who this person was on the horizon, the smile upon his lips starts to disappear at the corners. No. It couldn’t be. His eyes were playing tricks on him. Yet, he knew better than that. Oikawa’s hand slips from where it is and so does the smile. Eyes widen at the sight of a ghost from his past. There was no way that this person in front of him could be who he thought it was. There just couldn’t be. There just - “...Iwa-chan?”
( the fates must be cruel to make this the place of their reunion )
