Sebazin gives me a struggle, but this works for now. Sebazin's nude reference is a go on Art Fight! Now it's time to work on clothes. Not just hastily scribbled modern undies.
This is a part of Mal's Mother arc. It takes place after Worthless. It begins with Mother.
I imagined these chapters going better. That I'd have more fun writing them. Problem is, Seb breaks a lot easier than Mal. Mal's used to a level a torment whereas Seb loses their sanity in all sorts of new ways. Seb could never endure the torture they could inflict. And from Mal's POV, it's difficult to say how Seb's cracked. Yet.
Mal gets away from this chapter uncharacteristically unscathed (and competent!), but Sebazin is a broken mess. Not a lighthearted chapter, Seb's still a neglected prisoner, but very far from explicit in any way.

I woke with sunshine in my eyes. I scrambled to my seat, alert in a fraction of a second. I was fully dressed in my chausses and tunic, shoved in some forgotten corner between buildings. The sun peaked teasingly over the debris Iâd found to hide behind, warm and golden in the morning hour.
I had no idea why I was there.
I could feel the persistent headache laying in wait for a command from my motherâs sharp lips. My body ached from the abuse Bertramâs sons were so happy to inflict. The marks on my wrists under my sleeves were fresh, so theyâd shackled me again. That didnât explain why I was outside.
Fun fact I realized as I'm writing Seb's worst nightmare through the (painfully limited) lens of Mal. They would never be able to withstand the tortures they'd put their victims through. Even though they're a masochist that craves being beaten and scarred, and they claim they have no limits to that and their body is an open canvas to their partner's cruelty, there's an out to that anyway. There's a sexual release and an end. Seb gives up alarmingly easily when they don't have that. It's not one of those character quirks I intended, just one that happened naturally.
Eyy, another good day of writing at work. I like when the work and my brain lets me punch out a whole/almost whole piece. I don't even remember the full idea I wanted to hit with this piece, but I think I liked how it turned out. Oh! Overwhelmed Gabe. I don't think I overwhelmed him enough, tbh.
This takes place after Vog Bohdhn in some way or another. I tried to set it in autumn, first year the big group is together. So about half a year after they all meet. Buuuut that doesn't exactly work out when I think Infidelity is supposed to be about a year later. The conversation Seb has with Skrit in Vog Bohdhn is important in this, though. Good thing these are just a collection of ideas because I don't know how to make most of it consecutive yet. Hell, maybe this is a year and a half together. Except it can't be, considering the reading lessons. Ah damn. That's a problem for future me.
No real warnings. Mild sexual content, mostly because Sebazin's involved.

I sat on a patch of moss, hunched over the chalk tablet with a painfully short brick of chalk between my fingers. No matter how hard I tried, I couldnât get it to feel natural in my hold. I studied the way Gabe wrote, both with my medium and the pen he used for wizard things. I tried emulating the way Seb scooped the chalk to jot things down, hoping their way would be easier, considering their sloppy penmanship. It always felt wrong in my fingers. My letters were worse than Sebâs, which compounded my frustration considerably. Seb was exponentially faster at writing than me. Gabe wrote a little slower, but far neater and still on a different level.
Iâd given up begging Gabe to stop trying. I wasnât worth his effort. After months, I still forgot what letters looked like if I wasnât actively observing them. Gabe corrected my spelling on nearly everything. I couldnât recall without his patient guidance over my shoulder.

This takes place directly after Combing, so less than a week after Seb and Mal meet/fuck. Had half of it written in my head on my way up from my parents' and I think I even managed to remember everything as I wrote it down.
No warnings. Seb and Wyst just cementing the fact they hate each other very early on. I guess for Wyst to forget years later that Seb has chronic nightmares after Gabe dies? Maybe Seb just got worse. XD I mean ... the nightmares would get worse, they way he died.... And if even Skrit tried being nice to them after Gabe died, Wyst is a better person than Skrit. But I digress.

My body felt cold. I shifted against the chill, pulling my sleeping sack around myself to better ward it off. My shirt clung to the skin of my back, damp with old sweat. The night wasnât that warm. I didnât normally sweat at night. I blinked in confusion, bundling tighter.
âIs this a nightly thing?â
I stopped wiggling, my efforts to bring my sleeping arrangements back to comfortable, at the soft sound of Wystâs question. She spoke to someone already awake.
âYeah, pretty much,â Seb replied to her, exhaustion and resign rooted deep in their voice. They sniffed in sharply, exhaling audibly. âWhat are you doing awake?â
This is a part of Mal's Mother Arc and takes place after Promised. It begins with Mother.
I write again. Sort of. I wasn't sure I wanted to include this and I think there's more crossed out in my notebook than anything I kept. I know where I'm taking this, but sometimes Mal getting through its life like a helpless ... kernel ... is frustrating. I never set things up for Mal to display its competence.
Warnings. As it be with Mal's mother, physical abuse abound. I know I just typed this and should remember, but may or may not be mentions of rape/sexual abuse. Just because Mal's used to it doesn't make it any better.

Sebazin was dead. Their chest didnât move. They were more slumped than when Iâd last seem them, their arms suspended over their head with the chain holding the weight of their hands.
I pulled myself into the bars, willing my body to slip through the spacing to get to them. To feel their skin again for the last time, even if it would be cold to the touch.
âNo,â I moaned. My jaw didnât work right, the corners of my mouth raw from gnawing at the leather gag. âNo, Sebazin. Please.â
Art has become this stupid incessant need rather than anything enjoyable again. Which is usually fine, except that's when I get super sloppy. Which doesn't work well for my kind of style.
Dunno if I'll ever finish this, but it was proof that I could touch my tablet again after a day of wallowing in complete misery yesterday. Just kinda feel like what's the point, y'know? I can vaguely see my idea in my head, though I'm terrible with mental visuals. I'm the only one that needs to see these characters, right? So what's the point of putting myself through the process?
One hour sketch. Gonna do chores and disappear into a lake now. Kay bye.
