moving on from our long "YOU BETRAY MUTT?" chat, here you are!

while mutt is naturally nervous around scientists- for good reason- he's not at all the same kind of skittish around other mutants! ...uh, usually.

he's definitely interested in the mutant before anything else. a new mutant could go all kinds of ways- what kind of way will this one go? and when the mutant shows interest back to them, he gets a little flustered!

while he typically follows AD around, you'll find him following you around more and more- even if AD is still in the building. at first, he's shy, peeking around corners at you...

...but slowly, he starts openly following you around, occasionally chirping or purring to let you know they're there.

while they're not especially big or tough, he does his best to puff up and protect you from the more 'mean' scientists whenever he can. (this... may not go well, but...)

also, he always tries to stick near you during feeding! if he doesn't think you're getting enough, they offer to share some of his food with you instead.

this was an adventure in me and chris working together to create these thank u anon for this experience

first off, two people means mutt’s care is easier, whether the other is mutant or scientist. you both get equal amounts of time with him, and he bounces between which one of you he follows while you’re working/doing other stuff!!! it works out well for him because he doesn’t like being alone, which means if one of you is gone he can latch onto the other

but mutt likes it best when you’re both there. expect to be forced to sit close to each other so mutt can sit half on each of your laps and chirrup at you two. he’s a comfy mutant and he wants both of you to get his affection and also wants Both of your attentions

AD makes sure both you and mutt are spoiled as MUCH as possible!!! even at the expense of his bank account (rest in pieces). he’ll also always try to make sure anything he plans will be good for 3 people dates- and good for being in the lab as well, since mutt can’t leave. basically he’s big on making sure everyone feels loved because he loves you both!!! so much!!!

side note from chris: he might jokingly say there's more than enough of him to go around. you’re allowed to ditch him for this /j

overall, the two will lather you in attention (though mutt will also demand attention, but can you blame him) and you’ll never be left wanting- also when AD stays overnight at the lab you all can have a big cuddle pile together and sleep. just be careful with your blanket, because mutt kind of IS a blanket

funny you should say fluff...

while mutt in the comic right now is going through a heavy molt, he’s usually incredibly fluffy and soft to the touch, his feathers more like down than anything. so if you like soft textures? you’re in luck!

mutt is incredibly cuddly, as well. any moment he can spend close to you, pressed against you, sitting on you, etc. is a moment well-spent. he could spend his entire day napping against you if you let him.

he also loves to make you gifts! while he can’t necessarily do it... perfectly, with having wings and talons and all, he does his best and has a lot of thought about what you like, what you would want. he gets other scientists to help him out, too!

generally, he stays by your side when he can, but he’s fine with sitting and waiting as well. when you come back, though, he’ll always let out a stream of chirrups and prrps, happy to see you back and safe!!!

while mutt doesn’t speak much, usually only in broken sentences, he does his best to mimic your sounds too- and when you do it in return, he is delighted. you don’t hear the end of his ‘singing’ for a good hour or so.

his kisses take a little getting used to, since his teeth are too big to close his mouth properly, so you have to get used to the feeling of closed teeth bumping against you. but once you do, he does it as often as he can- when he first sees you, when he’s cuddled against you, when he’s falling asleep, when he wakes up...

and he’s plenty able to keep quiet if you need, without a problem. he’ll just settle against you and relax in your warmth.
