Personal Memoirs of P.H. Sheridan (Screen) Page Preview
There’s the American Dream of touchdowns, home runs, baskets, goals, and whatever the Hell they do in soccer. Red Cards?
Then there’s the Rapper’s American Dream which is one big mall of stores that all sell cough syrup that they can then go to one by one and buy a few bottles at a time, as the law allows.
The Vikings’ ability to rely on Dalvin Cook during screens and dump offs makes a WORLD of difference.
An Overview of the Screen Pass
The principal consultant and a public speaker with Successful Edge, LLC, for the last 25 years, Stan Archie became a therapist, counselor, and life coach with Premier Counseling in 2012. When he is not working, Stan Archie enjoys playing and following a number of sports, including football. One offensive move that every coach should teach to his or her football team is the screen pass. Coaches can develop a number of interpretations of this popular play, though the mechanics generally rely on misdirecting the defense’s attention and capitalizing on overly aggressive movements. A classic and frequently used version of the screen sees the offensive line allowing the defense to rush through the line at the quarterback, who drops back in the pocket as if preparing for a long pass down field. As the defense closes in, the quarterback instead throws a short lateral pass to a receiver standing just behind the line of scrimmage. By the time the receiver catches the ball, the offensive line should be repositioned as a wall between the defense and the receiver, allowing for a successful run.
It's addicting to watch the execution of this screen pass
It's a canned press conference response: "We've just got to execute."
Clearly, "execution" during a football game is not cut and dried. Random things happen. The turf monster strikes. Adrian Peterson makes a freakish cut. A bad call. The ball bounces weird because is oblong-shaped, for shit's sake. These are big reasons why we watch.
But this screen pass is a great example of what execution is. Danny Kelly over at Field Gulls can tell you in eloquent detail how it all went down and why RW's head fake (watch for that head fake!) was so important.
Or you can just watch. Over and over again.
Props to BigTrain21.
