This is my home: In November 2016 massive flames continued for several days on Table Rock mountain. Many people speculated this would have devastating effects on the eco-system. According to College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences at Clemson University (Go Tigers) “When people and property are endangered, wildfires are viewed as calamities. And, indeed, to those directly affected, they can be deadly and devastating. But from Mother Nature’s point of view, wildfires play an integral role in the health of a forest by thinning trees, burning dead or decaying matter and returning nutrients to the soil.” As a native to this area I am witness to a thriving landscape and a recent increase of wildlife population. Some people say the fire took away a part of the natural beauty Table Rock is known for, I disagree “this is my home” I grew up both physically and spiritually here in the foothills hiking, fishing, hunting, and camping. These trails were and still are my playground. The mountain I see today has more beauty today than ever before! The second photo has is me and Biscuit (a Jack Russel terrier/terror) with Table Rock in the back ground.
