Arcee/Predaking - this one kinda ran away from what I actually had planned for it, and it doesn’t help that it was written over a period of several weeks due to family outings and just laziness in general. But here it is!

It was quiet up on the ridge. The Manganese Mountains were close enough to Kaon that she could keep watch over the city, but far enough away that she wasn’t assaulted with all the different noises and smells that came with living in a bustling city. Even now it was odd to think of Kaon as a thriving place rather than the decepticon capital of a dead world. No matter how hard she tried, Arcee just couldn’t adjust to life as a civilian after millennia of war. Everyone else on Team Prime seemed to move on so easily, whilst she was left behind, a relic of a time that was fading fast from the memories of the newer cybertronians.

However, it seemed like the Manganese Mountains were a popular place to visit. Barely reacting to the flap of familiar wings and the whirring of a T-Cog behind her, she only turned around when the beastformer addressed her.

“What brings you this far two wheeler? Your kind don’t stray from your cities.”

“Too loud for me,” she huffed in response. “Too big, too bright, too different. It’s hard to get used to after spending so much time at war.”

“I understand,” the predacon rumbled, and they sat in amicable silence for a while, just watching the world go by.

“So,” Arcee started, “what brings you out here?”

“As a king I need time away from my subjects,” Predaking sighed, an odd sound for someone as powerful as him to make. “I need time to calm myself and to -”

“Breathe?” The femme interrupted with a wry smile.

“Yes, to breathe. The others can be….trying, at times.”

“Tell me about it,” she huffed. “These newsparks are a little too excitable for me. I mean, it’s hard enough handling Smokescreen and Bee, but that lot -” she gestured towards the city “are too much for me to handle. I feel like I’m an outsider around them. They adapt to situations so easily and I can’t even let go of things that happened centuries ago, you know?”

“Now, what could I possibly know about being an outsider?” Ignoring the way he purred his response, she stared at him for what felt like an age.

“…did you just make a joke?” All she got in response was a quirked optical ridge, almost sending her into a fit of laughter as the absurdity of the situation sank in.

“Two wheeler -”“Arcee,” she corrected.

“Arcee, I believe that your differences are what makes you better as a species, and if you don’t mind, I’d be honoured to call you my friend.” Glancing at the clawed hand offered out in friendship, she smiled.
