If Scott Stratten's book UnMarketing was on Facebook I would most definitely give it a big "LIKE". I have never been one to enjoy reading books that are driven to teach you a skill or knowledge however with this book that was NOT the case! The stories Scott tells within his 58 chapters were not only hilarious and easy to read but they also were 100% true.  Since beginning this book over a month ago I have applied many of the tips Stratten has given to the Social Media outlets I work with every day. Creating a conversation and replying to those who tweet or write on our wall has created a more positive image on our pages and has resulted in a larger trust between our followers and the company. 

     When it came to picking a Social Media book to complete my Digital Book Report I had a very hard time choosing but as soon as I started UnMarketing I was hooked. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone in ANY position within a company as it touches on more then just Social Media skills, but customer interaction as a whole. 

       The main focus of UnMarketing is to engage with customers instead of pushing them away by marketing TO them! Within the book Stratten not only makes it very obvious that he loves Twitter but also that he believes it works wonders for companies/brands, including his own. Below are a couple of quotes from UnMarketing showing that interaction and engagement with the marketplace is a HUGE priority to Stratten (especially on Twitter).

"If you say you have no time to listen and to talk with people in your marketplace, then you are saying that you have no time for your customers." - Scott Stratten, UnMarketing.

To be honest this is something that I think many social media users know these days however A LOT of people still don't follow these simple "rules", so I put Scott to the test. On April 9th I decided to 'Tweet' my honest opinion about his book  to see if he would even acknowledge my compliment. OF COURSE HE DID! Only a few minutes later my phone was notifying me that Scott Stratten had responded to MY tweet. It was short and simple but it worked! In the short second it took him to type his response it made me that much more excited to continue his book as I now knew he "practiced EXACTLY what he preached."
