bonehouse are a scottish four piece that play some of the best uk emo/punk/etc mixes i have heard in ages. this is one of two demos available on their bandcamp but don't be put off with the unfair title of 'demo' as these tracks are fantastically well put together.
to make it easier, the best comparison i can make is to bands on labels like tiny engines or cyls. i know that is rather broad (and a total cop out) but after listening to the three part vocal harmonies that range from spoken word to screams, the complex drum beats and lightning fast fills, the weighty bass that holds up the breakdowns and the guitar riffs that wander up and down the neck you just realise how much goes in to this band.
although bonehouse are a little heavy on the gang vocals it really doesn't matter; when your chance comes around to yell along at a show, the excitement is accompanied with a feeling of pride and privilege as you get to sing such brilliant lyrics.
"i touch broken hands to eyes and i touch tetchy, tender skin and i can't trust these brittle bones and i'm misplacing all the words. the way we were wasn't aimless, everlasting."
ffo: emo. it's that simple.
