First time scootering with both dogs. I was just going to take Taravali but it was cool out & Mandana really wanted to go. I only did half the route because I didn’t want Mandana to be too sore but she was actually really helpful. We had three big surprises. A man jogging backwards. A cicada that spooked Taravali and a coyote that was particularly interested in us (probably bc Taravali is in heat)
Mandana’s confidence and reliable response to cues really helped keep Taravali in check. When Taravali was staying on track Mandana would heel next to me out of the way. When she veered off to leave love notes to potential boyfriends Mandana would go on the other side and sandwich her between us to keep her moving. She showed Taravali how to go off the path and sit patiently while others passed, helped her recover from being startled by the cicada and showed her the strange man was nothing to worry about. I don’t think Mandana noticed the coyote was actually following us but I know they could both smell it had been hanging around. I’m grateful Mandana was there. Urban coyotes are so bold but I think her size and demeanor was enough to keep it from getting any closer.
It was hot as fuck yesterday, so I only stayed at this park for maybe 30 minutes at that, but the snake run was calling my name, so I went back today. It's been a good boost of confidence and is helping me to learn the idea of letting my scooter do the work for me.
Zipping through that snake run was like being on a roller coaster that I was in control of. I even felt some Gs going through that turnaround at the very end on time. This might be my new favorite skatepark tbh, it's got everything I could want; plenty of banks, a sick as hell snake run, stair sets, rails, hips, lots of flat, and a terrifying bowl that I'm gonna conquer one day.
It was a great scoot session today. I also managed to stay properly hydrated. Who'da thunk that drinking gatorade when you're sweating your girlnuts off would help keep you in the game lol
Seeing professional dressed folk on these scooters on the roads is a lil funny, they look goofy I love it. Like full on buisness bag and hands on the scooter. They are living the life. 💅🏻

Big Stick Acquired
My scooter tire was messed up so Mandana accompanied me to the local bike shop and waited with me while they fixed it. Afterwards we went to one of our past scooter routes and she had a good mile and then I put the scooter in the car and we went back to walk the trails for another mile. It was a good day.
