This was what he got for going ahead of the team to check out their next location. He hadnât even meant to do so, but the night had come and sleep would not, so Fred found himself walking towards the graveyard with intentions. Immediately it had felt no different than the usual places him and the gang checked out, the innate sense of creepiness pushed to background noise with his experience. Just stone tablets and ash, the leader of Mystery Inc. thought as his flashlight illuminated a sculptured angel overseeing their cordoned off plot of land. Then the noises started, the pitter patter of feet running up behind him only to stop once he turned sharply to it, the scritch-scratch of branches on stone, but the nearest tree was yards off and the gravemarker was within inches of Fred. Then something grabbed his ankle and he ripped free of it, running towards the marble mausoleum that he could see in the distance. Once within it, the metal gate secured, heâd backed away from the entry point and to his horror a voice suddenly posed a very logical question to which he answered with a yell of surprise. His flashlight beamed across the whole of the space, sweeping arcs of light until it caught sight of a young stranger and he illuminated it fully. He couldnât stop his heartâs wild beating, but he did steady his breathing enough that he sounded steady when he asked:
âWho are you?â
It was Samâs idea to check out the graveyard. They hadnât actually encountered many ghosts out here before, but theyâd heard some rumors and something was definitely up. Worth looking into, at least. So heâd come to check it out, while they followed another lead. When he heard the sound of footsteps, heâd assumed it was one of his friends, deciding to meet up with him, instead of follow their own lead, and thrown out a snide comment. It was the yelp that had him looking to see... a total stranger. One that looks pretty terrified, but he supposed that came when you unexpectedly stumbled across a ghost-- even if a graveyard was where ghosts were expected to be.
âUh... Phantom? Yeah, I usually just go by Phantom. Who are you?â
