i saw someone do this with a ship from a different fandom, and i knew what i had to do.

Now that we are a continent apart, we can’t reach other immediately and she hardly responds or reads any messages on facebook. Because she is just like that lol. But we do send super long emails almost every week, talking about our days and our life, attaching pictures to our emails. It’s like publishing personal essays to each other. And we sort of just turned into penpals from that. But what I love most about this exchange is that it helps her with her social anxiety. And allows her to appreciate our talks more. (Because she gets tired of everyday interaction with people, even with me, her best friend) She is such a cat in that way. And I absolutely respect her for that. I respect her space. If she doesn’t feel like talking to me, I know it isn’t because she is mad at me. She just gets tired of people. And if she were mad at me, she would tell me. She always does, whenever that becomes the case. (One time, we went on a 10-day trip to Japan with two of our other best friends. And after we got back home, we didn’t talk to each other for 2 weeks, because of all the close quarter interaction. We got tired of each other in an introverted way.)

I just wanted to share this because even though it has been only 3 months since I moved, I am having the best time talking to her through emails! It feels more personal. And gives us time to properly respond to each other’s news and stories. It gives us time to think of advice and time to take in the feels of the contents of each letter.

We would try snail mail. But she has never mailed a letter before. So until she figures that out, emails are fine. She really wants to mail me personal letters with her bad handwriting, though. And mail me cookies.(She makes the best cookies I have ever had)

I cannot wait to keep moving around the world, starting my solo travel adventures and bringing pretty gifts and food back to her whenever I visit.

You know how in some stories, there will be this old lady with her most beloved cat that she grows old with? She is the cat to my old cat lady identity. And I am the hooman to her cat identity.
