But that’s just how the Council do.

She took a breath, then rattled off answers almost as quickly as Ebott had dished them out.

“A matriarchal based hive system, based on complete obedience.” 

“I can die, and our tech is quite advanced, but mostly stolen from other cultures.”

“...to be honest, I never thought I’d meet an actual Schieran here.”

She jumped a little. She cleared her throat, setting down her cup. 

“I... I’m a friend of the owners. D-don’t worry, I’m no longer part of the hive collective. You have no reason to fear.”

Aster chuckled. 

“That is not why I asked you to join me for tea. I could simply see that you are very concerned about something. You could use the company.”

She relaxed a little, but her eyes fell downward. She didn’t know what to say. Didn’t know what she could say about her predicament.

Aster gave a kind smile. 

“I am Aster. Do you have a name?”

Jelly bit her lip. She had been trying to keep this place a secret, but could she really afford to now? With the new enemy threatening to destroy her new home, she may need as much help as she could get.

“After my dad was freed from prison, he wanted to start new. He wanted a place that he and I could really live like a family, and where none of our old enemies could find us.”

“In his search, he eventually found Schiera.”

“…It is a planet, very far away from Earth.”

“Nobody lived there. Most of the planet seemed completely dead. No life.”

“It looked like there used to be water at some point, but it no longer rained there.”

“There used to be life there. We found an ancient battle ground, with abandoned ships everywhere. But whoever these warriors had been, they were long gone.”

“Eventually, we found one of their old homes. A hive or nest I think. And inside, a natural spring with enough water for us and my garden. It seemed like a perfect place to hide and start over.”
