In fairness before the war her birthday was often the scene of revelry, celebrations, and parties; just not necessarily for her. Those were for her name, where she performed for her Father’s guests. It wasn’t until her birthday in Vale, where her Father wanted to summon her back for another—which she refused and cited her studies—when things changed. She had Blake with a new book, Yang with a proper dessert, and Ruby and her simple every thing.

Such things were not forgotten during the war, they just were undermined. They were in Mistral when the time rolled around again, some coffee, some extra rations from a friend’s pack, but by then she and Ruby were reunited and that was… well, more than enough.

By the rebuilding of the world, of Atlas, some part of Weiss thought her Mother would revert to something akin to her Father, if not less malicious. There were Galas, there were parties, but she never sang on demand or coercion for them. She was celebrated as someone Nic would be proud of, a Huntress first, Schnee second. But those parties—even with the draw of ‘new’ castes of Schnee allies—did end.

The afterparties, however, were special. Where they were tired, where it was just them. Her head on Ruby’s shoulder in some manor drawing room. A message from Whitley because he knew not to disturb her when she was tired. A final thank you and heartfelt loving goodbye from her Mother. Winter with a card she wrote a thesis within to tie to a luxurious black glass ornament. Blake and Yang always called the day after, her friends contacted her, but for Weiss it was those quiet moments between which she had her partner that she found the greatest gift. Those half-crescents coated in silver always with her, with their hands entwined, with some horrifically long thought out gift which costed nothing and meant everything to the Schnee.
