So I was playing this PS1 game called Project Horned Owl (ホーンドアウル) which is a light gun game that was developed by Alfa System and published by Sony Computer Entertainment (Japan Studio, SCEI) and Sony Computer Entertainment America, and Movic who made the anime cutscenes, the game was released on December 29, 1995 in Japan and August 9, 1996 on the US. So I had this idea were Sparks from SuperKitties (スーパーキティ), Koppa from Shiren the Wanderer (風来のシレン), and Serval Chan from Kemono Friends (けものフレンズ) meet up in a futuristic airport in Metro City, mostly because I think it would be really cute and interesting seeing Sparks, Koppa, and Serval Chan in Project Horned Owl.

While combat and exploration are where the player will spend the majority of their time in Alundra, the game’s optional puzzles possess an interesting pair of features: they’re very difficult to complete, but if the player progresses too far into the game without finishing them, the puzzles themselves become unavailable for the player to go back to. This is partially telegraphed in the game, but by making an optional challenge possess such a heavy tie to the player’s progress through the story, the game is able to mechanically tie the player’s overarching actions to the world without greatly altering core gameplay.

Love & Destroy
Love & Destroy is a mecha shooter/love simulation developed by Inticreates, who previously worked on the PS1 mecha/racing game Speed Power Gunbike, and later went on to work on various retro-themed properties, including Azure Striker Gunvolt and Blaster Master Zero. It is superficially similar to Hudson’s Bulk Slash (covered elsewhere in this book), though its execution is substantially different.
