the beelte youve photographed appears to be a horned passalus beetle (Odontotaenius disjunctus). im gonna guess that you live somewhere in the eastern half of the united states

in exchange heres a beetle of my own that i decided not to post previously... a rare carpet beetle on my shirt

Anthrenus oceanicus is a beetle ive only seen once. pretty colouration and scales but i wasnt satisfied with the photo quality so i never uploaded these. i still find it to be a really pretty beetle. and the only skin beetle ive seen

One time I heard this really loud and very deep-toned buzzing, I thought it was someone’s drone at first, but then I looked up and I saw a beetle about half the size of the palm of my hand. He bumped into my porch roof before he landed on the ground, and I got a good look at him. He was a Carolina copris, which is a type of dung beetle! I had no idea there were dung beetles in North America until then. He was super cute and clumsy and he bumped into the roof again multiple times while he was flying away.

Oh wonderful! I love beetle encounters.
