Leafhopper (Genus Scaphytopius), nymph, taken June 20, 2026, in Georgia, US
A tiny leafhopper nymph hiding amongst the protective spines of a young cucumber fruit! This individual blends in perfectly with its pointy ends and green and brown coloration. Finding a member of this genus so high up was surprising since I usually find them in grasses low to the ground. This guy went on a bit of an adventure and found a tasty treat as a reward!
