attempt to find films that aren't deeply upsetting, take three. today we are trying "god's own country". they sure are getting down and dirty in this one. by which I mean fucking in a field in yorkshire in like. february. are they okay. lads you're gonna get frostbite
oh. huh. i am Not in fact mentally stable enough for all of us strangers. that sure is something to realise when you're 1h13 into watching all of us strangers.
asked my friends for film recommendations and the first one was devastatingly sad and the second one is just deeply fucked up and i don't know if I want to try any others on this list tbqh. can someone recommend me a NICE film that is nevertheless a bit interesting and arty

Here are film recs that are hopefully stylish and not traumatizing if that’s okay: Polite Society (fun action film with stylized violence, one scene of a nonconsensual medical examination), Rye Land (delightful and vibrant rom com), The Vast of Night (intriguing sci fi set in the 1950s, unnerving at times but not a horror film)
thanks i've never heard of any of these. i'll look them up
can't tell if film is just a viscerally more upsetting medium than literature or if I just keep making really bad choices about what films to watch
literally this is why i don't watch films. it feels like they come in three flavours:
big studio cash cow with no soul
devastatingly sad
fucked up and/or terrifying
surely there have to be some nice, pleasant films out of there with a bit of heart and art to them
