I created it but I deleted and remade my account years ago due to being bullied off the site on my old main (I would prefer not to link my old and new urls hence I am on anon).

The list is a verbatim list from a variety of sources available in 2019/2020, when LGBTQ terms in Welsh were very hard to find online. In the last 6 years there's been an explosion in content which is super good. But I wouldn't dismiss that list due to either:

a) having grammatical mistakes (again, these were copied verbatim from the handful of online webpages that featured queer Welsh terminology and a few archaic Welsh words (i.e. 19th century look ungrammatical but often are just. Because the guys coining/copying these were cishet and didn't really care as long as it made their dictionary bigger).

and b) Some of the coined words in this list have been withdrawn by myself and are no longer serious proposals. But also it's not true that we already had words for some of these. We definitely didn't at the time.

I just wanted to say this because I think it cheapens how far we've come in terms of terminology to be so flippant about our situation. Now yeah we have more terms and more people using them. But a few years ago? You wouldn't have heard someone use LHDT. Everyone defaulted to LGBT and to English for most topics. Even when we've had terms for 50+ years.

Anyway, if anything, take my original list with a pinch of salt, but also don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. You get me?

gonna be real with you: 13 minutes is a longer video than i have the capacity to watch lmao. but i googled him and it looks like he's an asnac, nice. it looks like he graduated in 2012 so there's a chance he overlapped with a few of my asnac friends (possibly in final year when they were in first year) but i will not dox them by tagging them outright in this post haha

actually he was probably the year below one of my offline asnac friends who is a folk musician i know from the pub, since i think he finished 2011. so he probably knew him a bit. asnacs tend to mingle a lot between year groups. that said, student theatre types usually spend more time at the ADC than in their department, so on the other hand, maybe they never met

please tell me which is your favourite poldark character? i've seen the aiden turner adaptation but not read any of the books

hmmmmmm i don't know if i've settled on a favourite. i like demelza a lot though. it frustrates me that nearly every book she ends up in a Situation where ross is giving her shit about something that neither she never did at all OR she did but he did the exact same thing so he's just being a hypocrite. i'm sure his sexist double standards are very historically accurate but i get so defensive on her behalf lol. she's kind and cleverer than other characters give her credit for and has a refreshing hopefulness that doesn't quite tip into naivety because she's seen too much for that. i think she gets more likeable as time goes on and she grows into herself more, too; i think her less likeable moments are largely driven by insecurity

i also like morwenna... she is going through the horrors but she is finding ways to endure and to minimise them. hope she gets some non horrors soon. and caroline COULD quite easily be annoying but somehow she's (mostly) not; I love that she's self assured enough to be just like Fuck Expectations I Am Going To Befriend Ross Poldark which almost nobody else has done. like despite being one of THE most unprogressive characters in her stated opinions, she also treats herself as the equal of men in a sort of wry, tongue in cheek way that's very aware of her social position as a woman, also aware of the ways her money allows her to step outside it, but absolutely not buying into that position being inherent bc of her gender. and I think that's why she's able to be ross's friend, which surprises him (and probably everyone else). a lot of the women in this series are, understandably, not in a position to understand themselves as men's equals or to think that they could be, even when they're conscious of double standards or unfair treatment, and while it would be unfair to like them less because of this completely in-character and contextually understandable worldview, it can sometimes get frustrating to watch them constantly treat THEMSELVES badly because of it; caroline slightly escapes that trap. not wholly. but slightly. i guess it's because she has access to power because of wealth, which is not usually something that endears a character to me, but it puts her in an interestingly different position from the other women in the series who are frequently in positions of extreme dependence and powerlessness.
