Yesterday was a scan day in Tacoma. It was for a brain MRI and chest, abdomen, and pelvis CT scans. I donāt think Iāve had this combo there before. Normally itās CT scans and a bone scan. My oncologist wanted them done on the same day. Canāt do that with the local clinics. I think it took less time with this combo. Although, the MRI was about an hour. My parent had finally found a spot in the parking garage, but it was hard to get into because of a pillar. Sheās a really good driver.
I got my IV placed at the Infusion Center again before the scans. (I had to call beforehand about where to checkin/wait. The reminder call was wrong.) Itās usually done by ultrasound. The person that did it remembered me well. She immediately said my skin looked even more flakey than last time. She said I should definitely bring it up with my doctors. It did look crazy this time. I didnāt know that my legs were affected so much until later. Itās weird. I donāt think they can do anything about it. She said my veins looked really big this time. She was surprised. The IV really hurt going in. I started to have that thing where I get really dizzy, sweaty, and like Iām about to faint (I have fainted before). I was ok after breathing deeply and slowly like she told me to.
The MRI was after that. Iām glad they let my parent come with me to their waiting room. I had filled out a form online, but they still gave me the paper version beforehand. That was weird. They had me get into āpantsā and a gown. Had to get help with tying the back of the gown. There was a locker to put my things in, and they had issues with the lock not locking. There was only one person who knew how to do it. The pants kept falling off me on the way to the machine. I felt trapped inside. The earplugs didnāt block much of the noise. I had pads around my head and a cage thing over everything. My chin kept bumping against the cage. They were going to take the IV out when they finished it. I had to stop them and said I have CT scans next.
After that, we went back to the regular imaging waiting room. I had to fill out another form for the CT scans. They wanted me to have 16 oz of water 30 minutes before the scans. The MRI went longer and I started drinking it late. I got a Fiji water bottle. Iām not used to getting a water bottle, so I just picked it. I think it might have been on sale, too. It was ok. When they came I had just a little left. They said it was ok that I didnāt start earlier. They didnāt give me a contrast to drink. I think they did the same last time. They just injected me with contrast through the IV. I couldnāt get my arms in the position they wanted. Had to have my right hand on my forehead, which was a bit annoying. The person who was helping me was condescending to me. I just tried to ignore it. They took out the IV when they were done with the scans. It hurt coming out. Got out of the clinic at around 4:30pm. It felt like a long day, even though we arrived a little later than usual.
I hadnāt eaten much that day. They wanted me to fast for the CT scans. So, we went to the Cheesecake Factory. Hadnāt been there in about 5.5 years. I got their Passion Mint Fizz, which has passion fruit, agave nectar, and mint. It was intense and interesting. We shared their new pickle fries and bread. I think the pickles were pretty good. Almost every place does them differently. I got their Parmesan-Herb Crusted Chicken. It comes with mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans seemed to have a citrusy, honey, and peppery sauce. It was all great! I really liked the potatoes. It was a lot of food. Couldnāt eat it all. Got their Caramel Pecan Turtle Cheesecake for dessert. It had a pecan brownie, caramel-fudge swirl cheesecake, which was topped with caramel turtle pecans and chocolate. It was amazing! I couldnāt finish that either. I was very full and satisfied afterwards. Nice after being poked and prodded.
Itās been a long day. Today was a scan day for me. The appointment I had to get my IV in, and the checkin for the CT scan stuff were scheduled at the same time. I couldnāt get the infusion people to do it earlier. So, they basically came for me at the same time. The CT scan people just immediately handed me the barium contrast. I chose the mocha one this time. Then they handed me to infusion to get the IV in with an ultrasound. They decided to try my right arm this time. Theyāve been using one area on my left arm. They managed to find a vein, but it was painful at first. She added a ton of tape to keep it in place. I have very loose skin. Once it was set, the bone scan person came in and did their injection through it. I was then told I needed to drink most of the contrast, and the CT scan would be at 12:30pm. I waited a while in the waiting room, then they called me back for the CT scan. They checked out my IV first. There was something wrong with it. There wasnāt any blood recall (?), and it was painful every time they flushed it. The lady from infusion was called back to take a look. She unkinked it and it seemed to work. This all took about 20 minutes. They decided to go slower with the IV contrast than usual. So, that took more time during the CT scan. It all took so long that I couldnāt have a break for lunch like usual. One of the CT scan people gave me a snack pack to keep me going if I need it. It was nice. Then I had the full bone scan at 1:30pm. That at least was on time and nothing bad or different happened. By the time I finally finished that, I was really hungry. A little while later (after walking a while), we went to Itās Greek To Me. I got a gyro without vegetables and light on tzatziki sauce. It comes with fries and I got root beer as a drink. It was so nice to have food again. It was really messy, though. The grease/sauce dribbled onto my coat and made a nice long streak down the front. Iām laundering it now, but it surprised me and Iām not used to washing my coat. We finally got home at around 5pm. Iām nervous that my mets have spread to my liver and lungs. Itāll show up on the CT scan if thatās the case. Hopefully, itās not in my lungs and liver, or anywhere else in there. Hopefully, the full bone scan doesnāt show progression.
Scanning this morning. I'm so far behind. I tried to start a rough drawing for another giveaway for my Instagram but I don't have any inspiration. When you get stuck. Sometimes it's good to take a break and refresh.

Items related to the history of Northeast Ohio popular music are of particular interest, but feel free to bring in anything you have related to rock and roll history in general, too. On October 8th, you can bring up to 15 photos, handbills, programs, and other flat rock and roll memorabilia ā 8.5ā x 11ā in size or smaller ā to be digitized and potentially included in the Rock Hallās permanent collection. Itās 8:30am here and my appt isnāt until 1:30 for those wondering what the time difference is!
I just canāt wait to see them and know exactly how far along I am! Iām nervous about being weighed and hoping they donāt as itās already farrrr too high due to lack of sickness! And a heightened appetite!
Gonna get my arse into gear tho and concentrate on my diet now that my hips have already started to go on me!
I also get to announce today! At the beginning I wasnāt sure if I was even going to announce on Facebook this time- but Iām actually desperate to! I want everyone to celebrate this baby as they definitely deserve it!
One of Pauls family members had said to us ācongratulations even if it wasnāt plannedā it struck a nerve with me as this baby couldnāt be more planned and longed for! I donāt want people to think that just because they believe itās a bit early to have a second baby, that it wasnāt an intention of ours! (She wasnāt being mean by saying this though)

For our third Scan Day event we ask rock fans and collectors to bring in photos, handbills, programs, and other flat rock and roll memorabiliaā8 1/2ā x 11ā in size or smallerāto be digitized. Participants may bring up to 15 items for free digitization onto a complimentary USB drive.Ā
Reservations are recommended to ensure shorter wait times. Please contact the Library and Archives at (216) 515-1956 or [email protected] to schedule an appointment or receive more information.
All participants will receive:
