I've been watching your blog but didn't want to say anything out of fear of backlash from you or your other followers, but I think that you may have jumped the gun a bit too fast when it came to @scam-alerts?
I checked them out a bit and they are not the same person as @kyra45. The person who runs that blog is @slenbee who is apparently LGBTQIA+ and when they make posts on that sideblog you can see the bee icon their main blog has beside it.
They also made a post today on their side blog but it didn't address you directly. However it did mention someone thinking that the kyra person was "co-modding" the blog like you had said. So you might want to check it out since it disproves the stuff you said in your posts about them.
I'm not picking sides with either of you but if I'm being honest?
One comment that a person leaves on a post in what they may feel is in good faith or in trying to be helpful, shouldn't warrant targeted resentment, backlash, or harassment from you or your followers.
Especially if what you're saying about them isn't true.
I'd imagine you wouldn't want that happening to you if you were in their shoes.
Best of luck and take care.
If you've been watching my blog, I think it's clear that I'm not someone to send my followers after anyone and have regularly talked about what fuckery it is to do that. In terms of "backlash" from me, I don't know what that means. A pointed response that includes swearing? Because yeah, that is how I respond sometimes. But I question the use of the word.
Anyway, fine. Let's do this.
I'll point this out later in detail, but yes, you are correct. Kyra is NOT a mod of scam-alerts. That was my error. The reason I made that mistake will be discussed when we get there. For now, just know that the main post I have on this (linked below) now has a correction with today's date to that effect.
Now, if I may:
but I think that you may have jumped the gun a bit too fast when it came to @scam-alerts?
My problem with scam-alerts is that I posted that I got yet another of many, many, MANY Gaza scammer messages, and they came onto my post to tell me I was being a big meanie about assuming someone might be scamming me about Gaza.
In fact, @slenbee (who runs scam-alerts, so is the one who must have responded to me) flat out said that because scam-alerts does not call Gaza scams Gaza scams, I shouldn't either:
[Text of interest in the screenshot: That's why those of us that document scams don't cover them. As if we can't call them scams, others shouldn't either.]
I don't take well to appeal to authority. Especially when they rolled onto that post about five minutes after I made it. Which is weird because they weren't tagged, and if they're not going to call Gaza scammers what they are (scammers), why are they showing up to drop this on a random post with (at the time) no traction?
Also, as I said in the original post, I don't give a fuck what scam-alerts does or does not call a scam. I can decide all by myself that an obvious scam is, in fact, an obvious scam. And I can also be deeply suspicious when someone who claims to be helping people spot scams refuses to provide any basic guidelines for spotting a popular and widely used scam in these parts AND THEN comes onto my post and justifies why things like a gofundme (which doesn't pay out in Gaza) could totally be legit this time for realsies.
This kind of "Yes, it looks super suspicious, but have you considered maybe its not?" style of argument is very common amongst scammers who are trying to keep the money coming. Adding to the fact that gazavetters (which you can see listed by slenbeee in the original post as trustworthy) is completely untrustworthy and has been for a very long time. Many of the accounts they claim to have vetted have been proven to be scams, and they have never actually proven that any of the vetting they WILL say they do is done. They have been shady since day fucking one, and someone who is supposedly knowledgeable about scams calling them trustworthy is another massive red flag.
The person who runs that blog is @slenbee who is apparently LGBTQIA+
I'm a weird faggot pervert. I do not care if someone else is queer. Being queer is not some proof that you're trustworthy or kind or anything but queer. This is not an argument for or against anything slenbee is doing. This is an effort to use emotional manipulation to make me feel bad for what I think you think is bullying. Which is not what is happening. Shove this shit.
They also made a post today on their side blog but it didn't address you directly.
But you're in my inbox stirring shit while fearing backlash????
However it did mention someone thinking that the kyra person was "co-modding" the blog like you had said. So you might want to check it out since it disproves the stuff you said in your posts about them.
As I was not tagged by slenbee or reached out to to discuss the matter with slenbee, I will not be reading the post on the "side blog" which you did not specify. However, as YOU tagged scam-alerts, which is run by slenbee, in your ask and the only way to answer was to do so publicly, I suppose she will see this. So great job, there. You're here accusing me of harassing someone, and then you tagged the supposed victim.
Anyway;
As mentioned above, I have corrected my incorrect statement about Kyra in the main post. She is not a co-mod. She is, however, listed on the pinned post for scam-alerts as a trustworthy source for scam information:
Specifically, she is listed as being trustworthy for "If it's a scam, she's got a post on it."
And if you go to Kyra's page, there's a link to her art blog where she will draw you a dragon if you donate to a Gaza fundraiser:
Her approved list--as someone who is supposed to be trusted about scams to the point that an entire blog dedicated to reporting scams recommends her--includes gazavetters AND el-shab-hussein and naublsi, both of whom have never clearly answered questions when people find their vetting methods questionable and opaque.
By the way, that screenshot is from the original post I made about all this because I went to Kyra's blog to get to the art blog to make sure I had the absolutely most up-to-date version of wording in case somethinghad changed because I don't want to rely on old information when you're showing up wanting an honest and detailed answer, and I can't screenshot whatever her art blog might shows now because she's blocked me.
For the record: Fine. Don't care. I block people for having annoying taste in characters. Block me for a single corn chip. But also, if you were someone who was known for your trustworthiness when it came to spotting and talking about scams, wouldn't you want to make sure you were above board in your art offerings and, perhaps, choose reputable charities rather than have people use sources that have been widely discussed to be at best, VERY iffy in their vetting?
I'm not picking sides with either of you but if I'm being honest?
When you say something, then use the conjunction 'but', you are saying that you are about to disagree with the first part of your sentence. You are, in fact, picking sides. You cannot say "I'm not picking sides" and then follow up with 'but.' You are taking a side. On anon so you don't have to face any actual consequences for your actions, mind. But you are taking a side.
One comment that a person leaves on a post in what they may feel is in good faith or in trying to be helpful, shouldn't warrant targeted resentment, backlash, or harassment from you or your followers.
Is the resentment, backlash, or harassment in the room with us now?
Or are you conflating "people reblogging because they also see some red flags" as some sort of organized campaign of meanness? I check my activity feed all the time. I do not recall a single instance of anyone harassing the blog. Reblogging is not harassing. Saying I think scam-alerts is untrustworthy because they loudly do NOT call out Gaza scams AND associate with someone who appears to profit from those same scams is NOT backlash or harassment. Sometimes, people will disagree with you and do it loudly because the thing you're disagreeing on is important enough being loud about it is how you make sure other people don't fall for shit.
A blog that claims to care about people getting scammed showed up on my random fucking post to get up my ass about how I should follow THEIR rules and refuse to call a scam a scam. I refused and did so where people could see it because the blog claims to be an authority, and I don't think it's trustworthy.
Especially if what you're saying about them isn't true.
Burden of proof is on you. I have made my case in the original post and here. I believe scam-alerts is not a trustworthy source for scam information because of their refusal to acknowledge Gaza scams AND their decision to show up and try and defend a particularly obvious one. Which is what started all of this. I wouldn't have had a single fucking word to say about the blog or who they associate with if they hadn't come into my house and started shit. They started shit, so I went and took a look at things, and when it wasn't passing the smell test, I gave my honest opinion on my read of the situation.
I'd imagine you wouldn't want that happening to you if you were in their shoes.
I'm not in their shoes and won't be in their shoes because I don't traffic in promising to be a trustworthy source of something as important as teaching people how to spot and avoid scams while also advocating that people should not listen to their instincts for what is likely the most widely successful scam in tumblr history.
Now get off my fucking lawn.
