#sca equestrian

Beau was not in as good of shape as last year, so I only rode him one day, but that meant I got to ride several other horses, which is fun and interesting. Jamieson is a Fell Pony (or possibly a Fell Beast lol), and is pushy and spoiled. He's going to boot camp with another equestrian to get manners lol. I also rode Firecloud, a pretty palomino mare. She's the opposite of Jamieson in that she's a working ranch horse, so quick and fast.

@joanna-kae came along and was accepted into the equestrian group. And she was approved of by Frieda the mule, who has discerning taste. She was also a fantastic photographer for us as well!

I also got made an official Lady of the kingdom, and got an Award of Arms for my efforts in rapier and equestrian. Which came as a surprise, but was very fun!

It was a good start to the season, and I have six weeks to get Beau in better shape for WW. He is also getting some bad teeth out, which will help with so many things.

Pony garb is coming along but like… why do I always make things hard for myself? None of this fits in my machine or rolls up nicely to get shoved in. Then to add injury to insult I stabbed myself repeatedly with pins as I tried to creatively guide/shove whatever parts of this saddle pad I could through the machine.

“I’ll make a saddle pad!” She said

“It’ll be fun!” She said

“It’ll be easy!” She said

I took two old saddle pads and baste stitched them together so that they’d be longer.

Then I cut some old sheet to be the bottom.

Now I’ve laid my top fabric on top, with the tablet woven osberg weave trim.

Society for Creatice Anachronism tournament!We played a game where we had to shuffle heads from one side of the arena to the other.

We lofted sticks through rings and had to catch them on the other side

We hit heads with swords

We did the tent peg game

We jousted (at a spinning shield, not at another person)

And Spouse and Pal had fun too

Fun at SCA practice! Such a lovely sunny October morning and so good to get back to the SCA. It’s a fun group and it’s just a good time to go low stress and ride around playing mounted games.
