yeah, I agree! I like to think I would have a fairly petit daemon, but still - the worry’s always there! like, a water daemon? or a rhinoceros, or something? what a paaaain. (although I guess I could ride a rhinoceros daemon like a horse… that might be kinda cool… for like a day.) but then again, what an interesting thing to know about yourself! 

haha yes, great minds do think alike! quite similar. although I do have to give credit for Ward’s bee daemon to my good friend @splendidiorvitro, who had to sell me on the idea. but once she did, I went for it hard and I love it. :-) 

I haven’t decided on a name. :-)

and I think the 4A storyline would mostly go like this ficlet, but in their apartment and with Caedmon/Sarama around, with the truth coming out as soon as Jemma gets out of her required polygraphs. 

[and remember - the epilogue is there to establish that they’re happily married and together from there on out!]

man, I am just… so weak for FitzSimmons + baby/child headcanons in this ‘verse, haha. idek why. as someone observed in the tags of that post, I think it’s the added bonus of the baby animal that does it. ;-)

that doesn’t sound stupid! and besides, I think a lot of people who read the fic haven’t read HDM, so you’re in good company. a daemon is born when the baby is - it pops into existence once the baby takes their first breath (just like when someone dies, the daemon winks out of existence), so it isn’t carried in the womb. daemons are thought to be created at least partially of this thing called Dust in HDM, so they are formed and dissipate as such in connection to their human.

*shrug* tbh pregnancy fic isn’t my schtick, so I don’t have many headcanons. 

once she really starts to show, she’s pretty much exhausted from the hormones all the time, and she gets fairly severe back pain. Caedmon helps by gracefully agreeing to be her footrest a lot of the time. when he isn’t helping her that way, he spends a lot of time lying bodily over Fitz. they discover early on in her pregnancy that Fitz practically immersing himself in Caedmon actually helps to alleviate her nausea and migraines, so any time Fitz can spare his hands he just holds and pets Caedmon as much as possible. when Jemma’s particularly miserable towards the end, she likes having Sarama lie directly over her heart; having Fitz’s daemon in long-form contact with her is very calming.

oh, and a daemon is born when the baby is - it pops into existence once the baby takes their first breath (just like when someone dies, the daemon winks out of existence). :-)

*shrug* Hydra probs wants to use it like Lord Asriel did. and, y’know, to mess shit up. bc that’s how they do.

I figure that the Subtle Knife has faded into lore, so although it’s out there somewhere, it’s not in play atm. Fitz does spend a lot of time researching and hunting for it when he’s looking for monolith-trapped Jemma, though. he becomes convinced it’s the only way to find her. (fortunately, it isn’t!)

not really sure! the daemon aspect of this universe (which makes it already a lot more ~magical~ than canon to begin with) would probably have the biggest effect on the season 4 storylines - like I said yesterday, it erases the canon problems of season 4b/4c since there is no way to truly replicate a daemon, and I’m really not sure how Robbie’s daemon would work with the whole... vengeance demon... hell... thing. that’s harder for me to reconcile than the terrigenesis. 

I think in this universe, Radcliffe’s aims might be less about creating a virtual world (because no sane person in this ‘verse would want to live without their daemon) and more about creating everlasting life (using the Darkhold). that would create its own problems (maybe an elixir goes wrong and becomes some kind of daemon-killing plague? y i k e s), and would also connect to AIDA’s attempts to create her own daemon. I could see her kidnapping daemons and/or humans in this hunt - although she might still be more interested in Fitz, it’d probably make more sense for her to kidnap and attempt to study Jemma & Caedmon, since their bond is already stretched past the normal distance. I could also see her perhaps continuing to attempt Hydra’s research about intercision. but again, that’d all be done in the real world - no interdimensional travel using science here, as far as I can parse it. (they’d have to locate the subtle knife for that.)

it could be super interesting but in a completely different way than this season - and would probably be a lot less angsty for FitzSimmons in the long run. :-)

ha, well, this will be some comfort for you all - the Framework (and the LMD switcheroo) can’t happen in the Side By Side universe. neither Radcliffe nor AIDA can replicate daemons. it’s beyond even the Darkhold’s instructional capabilities to recreate the physical embodiments of humans’ souls. :-) after all, daemons and humans can canonically sense the difference between a daemon and an actual animal - they could tell the difference between anything artificial and the true daemon right away.

AIDA might cause mischief some other way - I could see her, rather like the panserbjørn, seeking to make herself a daemon, for example - but it wouldn’t involve the Framework at all. and the four of them have moved into their apartment outside of the Playground anyway, so they’re already a degree removed from anything that happens at the base in current canon.

yes, they definitely still have that conversation! although Fitz is angry with her for attempting to sacrifice herself, he sort of builds into that anger - his and Sarama’s primary emotion upon Jemma & Caedmon’s return to the Bus is relief. and his self esteem issues are a big factor after that day, as well - from his perspective, what did he do? all he did was push Caed out of the plane, and then fumble the parachute only for Ward to swoop in and save the day. that reaction from Fitz doesn’t change, even if he knows that Jemma loves him. him knowing that she loves him actually makes her “you’re the hero” declaration seem less meaningful in his head. she loves him, so of course she’s going to say that he was the hero. her love doesn’t quite stop his inner demons, unfortunately. 

the main difference about the scene is how the conversation happens - it’s in one of their bunks, still, but with the two of them as tangled together as possible, Fitz’s face buried in her neck and her nose pressed against his hair. (the daemons are cuddled together as they usually are, squished between the end of the tiny bed and the wardrobe.) Jemma whispers that he’s her hero into his curls, clutching him tightly against her, and says she’s sorry over and over again, and Fitz just tries to breathe her in, because he’s suddenly realized that he truly can’t live in a world that doesn’t have her in it. and he doesn’t know what to do about it.
