If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid.
So I've been literally chasing shadows.
I've got the SB-910 off to the left as a remote flash, 45 degrees to the subject, 45 degree up angle, and diffuser cap on. Pop-up flash on the camera is acting commander. LED panel in the upper right quadrant. f/8, 1/60 sec, ISO 100.
I moved the panel all around trying to get rid of those shadows, but nothing helped. Trying 1/125 sec actually made them worse.
Until... wait. No. It can't be that simple can it?
You won't believe this one neat trick!
I stuck my hand in front of the pop-up flash.
Remote still fired, LED panel still helping off to the right.
Can't help but laugh at what a simple fix it was. As a discord friend said, a hands-on approach.
@sirfrogsworth you're right. Light is neat.
EDIT: a couple of hours later me here. A different discord friend told me to check commander mode settings. There's a '--' setting where the flash will still emit pre-flashes, but not fire for the shot itself.
It does exactly the same thing.
I'm still leaving the post as is, because I feel like it, even it is me not RTFM.
