Now that my new-to-me Manfrotto 055 tripod has arrived, I have a solid base to paly around with anime figure photography. Just a very basic setup on the desk here...

Nikon D600, 105mm f/2.8 macro lens, and an SB-900 in remote mode triggered by the popup flash. f/3.3 (a quirk of the lens. You can't always get a full f/2.8 when in close) and 1/125 sec.

I used the flash bare. No bounce card or diffuser. I tried 45 degrees either side of the model, the same but with the flash head at a 45 degree up angle, straight into the background either side of the model, directly overhead, and straight on from underneath the lens.

I go offload to Lightroom, and what do I find? Every single shot looked virtually identical to the last. Even the shadows.

Just posting the one sample with the remote flash to the left of the camera, pointed straight on, and at a 45 degree angle to the model. The others are all the same.

Well, maybe a little bit of screwing around. But if the boss asks, it's practice.

After @sirfrogsworth posted on his wide-angle lens earlier, I was like, "hey, I just got myself a wide-angle zoom lens, let's see what I get photographing tonight's lunch!"

So with the 17-35mm f/2.8D lens in place, and the flash on, I got some interesting results.

Camera straight on, flash straight on. I'm maybe six six inches away from the subject, if that. So close, the lens itself is casting a shadow.

Take 2, flash 45 degrees up. The overhang of the cabinets behind the subject provide for a surface to bounce off of. It'll become more noticeable later.

And 90 degrees. Maybe I should've tried the bounce card here, too.

Moving on to another view.

何もセコいことはやってなくて、暗闇の中で（当然スローシャッターになる）細長い水風船をワインボトルの先からグラスの中にかけて置き、右手で針を刺して爆発させる瞬間を高速フラッシュ（1/38500秒）で撮影する。 ※ワインは空瓶。

2人で割るタイミングとシャッターを切るタイミング合わせるだけだが、これを1〜2回で撮るのが超特異的上位2％だ（笑）。とてもアナログ。計算だけで行うので事前検証はしないため低コスト。

当時Facebookでは数千件のいいね！をもらいつつも、海外からFakeだ、Photoshopだというコメントもしっかりついた。そろそろ大丈夫かなと思ってやったんだが、世の中の目は厳しかった（笑）。

撮り方は公開しているので、再現できる人だけがフェイクじゃないことを確認することができる。
