Out of all the animals I've studied and illustrated, dolphins have left the strongest impression on me. Although I didn't know much about them at first, I'm now captivated by their unique shapes and vibrant colors. Learning about these creatures has been a truly delightful experience.
Long-Beaked Common Dolphin
The Long-Beaked Common Dolphin has been a topic of controversy in the past, as it was initially believed to be the same species as the Short Beaked Common Dolphin. However, they are now recognized as distinct species within the same family (Delphinidae). These dolphins are likely the most widespread species in the world.
This particular subspecies is exclusively found close to the shores of Africa and is larger and heavier than its counterparts that are found in various locations around the world.

#Repost from our awesome conservationist friends at @savethereef @download.ins --- ⚠️THESE POOR DOLPHINS DESERVE BETTER! ⚠️ An update on the captive facility Delfiniti from our friends at @emptythetanksworldwide — we have received several messages about the dolphins at Delfiniti in Ixtapa, Mexico as there is a concern that the dolphins have been abandoned. Our team in Mexico contacted Delfiniti to question them about the videos and allegations and according to their staff that is answering the phones, the dolphin staff is still present at the facility but not all day long due to COVID. They are still selling tickets to swim and interact with those dolphins. However, Empty the Tanks is concerned with the water quality that is seen in the videos, the fact that there are 11 dolphins being held together in two small pools, and that restaurant customers can be seen in the videos throwing food to the dolphins. We have filed a complaint with PROFEPA and will continue to monitor the situation with our team of volunteers.
