Hi, I noticed that you went to MCAD and I'm planning on going up there this upcoming fall semester! I was wondering if you had any experience with student loans or getting financial aid while in school, especially since I think I'm short with paying for tuition and I don't want to let that deter me from going.
the main thing about scholarships is if you want a lot of them, you have to spend a lot of time searching and applying for them. most of the ones you’ll be able to get will be relatively small, but if you get a few they’ll stack. i’ve heard great things about scholly but i’ve never personally used it so i can’t give details.
for me, personally, i was very fortunate that i received scholarships from MCAD for my portfolio and grants from the government for my academic record (i graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA) and a work study scholarship that i used to pay for the bulk of my expenses while in school (i was also lucky to have some help from my parents, which i know a lot of people don’t have).
i came out of college with about 11k in loans, which is incredibly low for college in general and especially art school. luckily all my loans are subsidized which means that the interest i accrue is very low and i can take my time paying it off.
no matter what, most people are going to come out of any form of higher education, especially art school, with loans, but if you can find some good scholarships you can minimize that. make sure your parents/guardians fill out the FAFSA on time because that will determine a lot of the school/government loans/scholarships you can get. and never be afraid to reach out to a representative from your chosen school and ask questions. it is literally their job to help you and answer your questions pertaining to their school. they WANT you at their school and they like people who are interested and who engage.

SAME i would be so confident w/ comprehension & writing and then those sections just brought me down
same holy shit, the comprehension & writing were a literal piece of cake, but honestly there just was not enough time allotted for the math sections. like i cant do what like, 20 math problems in 25 minutes. its just not happening. i probably left around 3 or 4 blank on the part where you come up with your own answer just bc i ran out of time
soo, any of my artistic friends want so blank canvas? I have three framed and three 12x16 boards.. I'm moving so I don't have room and they're blank.. It'd just be a waste to throw away and I'd rather just give them then sell them. If you're interested, send me a message. I'll be happy to save them for you or try to get them to you :)
