“Robot & Frank” is about an aging ex-con who is struggling to conqinue looking after himself and living alone. His son decides to buy him the latest Robot servant companion who Frank initially can’t tolerate but he gradually warms to.

Simple, heart warming and sincere. “Robot & Frank” is the touching story of the effects slow setting dementia can have on the elderly and the family around them, wrapped in a lighthearted coat in the form of Frank’s sidekick “Robot”. It doesn't try anything too adventurous and the Robot character is probably more subdued than what most people are familiar with in film, but the film knows how to have of fun and tackles the terrifying prospect of Alzheimer's in a thoughtful and tender way.

Frank Langella marvelously plays the lead in his best performance in years and though Robot’s voice sounds identical to Kevin Spacey, he is in fact voiced nicely by Peter Sarsgaard.

In 2004, I had an idea for a story. It was about revenge, redemption, and pirates. (Like, lots of pirates.) It's gone through several different versions over the years, but the core of the story — and the characters at the heart of the tale — remain fundamentally unchanged.  In 2007, I had some artwork commissioned for the project, hoping it would put some faces to the people, places and happenings I'd been dreaming about every day for years. Here's one piece, illustrated and sent to me by the brilliant Darran Hurlbut on September 20, 2007 ...
